Ole Miss sucks defensively. They are absolutely terrible.

their scoring numbers will go down tremendously when they aren't playing J-ville and Tulane.

their point total agaisnt JSU was a little misleading. They only scored 34 on regulation. Croom's offenses regularly did that to I-AA schools. Except for Maine of course. So, 34 is not really very good for an offense against a I-AA team.

he is there to dole out funds, play video games with high school students and act cool. As long as he is up against overmatched teams (usually) and traditional offenses, he is fine. Give him a spread team and he looks like he has never seen the game before. Nutt should double his salary or tripple his slush fund.

The defense will FINALLY get rid of all those Orgeron recruits and get to play Nutt's awesome guys next year though, so I'm sure it will get better. 9 senior contributors, including the best players on the team like Powe, Laurent, Scott, Locket, Cornell, and Walker will be gone next year

All the guys that said Nutt has been recruiting better than Orgeron, when do you expect that to show up on the field? It really looks worse for next year, should we not expect any of Nutt's classes to field a good team until his 5th year?

not to bet on Ole Miss to cover after their performance last week. Hate to say I told you so.

That Vandy game next week should be one hell of nail biter. I bet the over/under is 35

Vandy can't score on anybody, but they'll have by far the best defense UM has faced so far this season. I doubt more than 30 points will be scored.

I don't think there is any question that Orgeron recruited very well on the DL. I don't think its any secret that Nutt, as far as production goes, hasn't recruited as well as Orgeron did. We'll see how good guys like Thompson, Martin, and Bennett are eventually, but I think it will be tough to pass the productivity of the Orgeron DL recruits.

However, as far as I can tell, he certainly has surpassed Orgeron in recruiting as far as LBs and DBs. In the secondary we have 2 freshmen corners getting PT, one former Nutt walk-on (from Hargrave) starting, and Ingram (Orgeron) and Jackson (Nutt) sharing FS responsibilities. Johnny Brown (Orgeron) and a player initially recruited for RB that Nutt moved to CB (McGee) are the other two players. Oh, and the backups are all Nutt recruits. The LBs have Kight (Nutt) starting with two seniors (Walker, Cornell), one of whom is sharing PT with Shackelford (Nutt). All of the backups are young Nutt players (2 true frosh and a junior).

But you are right, losing guys like Powe, Lockett, Laurent, and Scott are going to hurt next year. The experience factor will be switching from the back 4 to the front 4 next year.

DB's come and go and are a dime a dozen, but replacing guys like Laurent, Powe, Scott, Armour, and Lockett will be tough... and don't underestimate the losses of Cornell and Walker, those guys are fast and have tons of experience. DL guys are so much harder to find and are so much more rare, and have a much bigger impact on how good your defense is. O brought in quality and quantity in abundance on the DL, having 4 DT's the quality you guys have this year will not be replaced easily. Shackleford is the only Nutt player I think that's a difference maker that I see right now, but more importantly, I don't see any of the guys he's brought in on the DL that have put a scare into anyone, and he's had what, 3 classes now?
