1. Get Shaun Smith Minutes: Stansbury must get Smith minutes at some point, and this game would be the perfect opportunity with the Rebels’ huge roster.

** How many games have we won without Shaun Smith? I say, if we have to play Shaun Smith, we lose.

2. Feed Sidney: The Rebels can’t stop Sidney, and he must get 10 to 15 shots tonight.

** I can't think of anything funny about this at all.

If the Bears were worth a **** I could see it being a trap game, but....they 17ing suck. We win tonight in the sad pad.

If he's able to get down low and post up, sure, he should get more shots... but why encourage him to shoot it from deep and create momentum for them? He's done well drawing double teams... unless he gets open down low, he should shoot no more than 4 or 5 a game from outside 6 feet.

Ole Miss - Go Man

Seriously? Have you seen our ineptitude against the zone? I hope they play man, I really really do.

is about to run out is not what you consider a good zone offense? I've watched it for 13 years, so I just assumed it was a good play.

1. Buckner will be guarding the RSS, not Moultrie. Holloway will be on Moultrie if they play man. I expect them to zone us..
2. What is the love with Shaun Smith? He is hurt and is probably done at MSU, get over it, if he plays we are up by 20.
3. The rebels will play zone, not man to stop us. They man up and we feed the RSS and Moultrie all night long.
4. I do agree the RSS will have a Big game , he did last year vs the Bears, but we have Moultrie to help this year.
5. This game will be won or lost down low with our Bigs, we stay out of foul trouble and play some zone defense and we win by 10+ easily.

If they play zone State will kill them from the outside with outside shooting. Everyone that starts for MSU can shoot well from the perimeter. Moultrie probably the only that's not a good perimeter shooter.

That's the #1 key to victory tonight? Tell me you don't actually believe that.

in today's CL by Holloway was interesting ... "Both me and Reggie or whoever else comes off the bench can guard (Sidney)," Holloway said.

Then, couple paragraphs later we learn that ... Sidney averaged 23 points and 8.5 rebounds on 71 percent shooting in two wins against the Rebels last season..

Now, Holloway may be able to shut big Sid down tonight but NOBODY on the rebel team 'handled' him last year.

Or do you play man and let them take advantage of size down low and let us cut into the lane? We can't break a zone... we've struggled for as long as I can remember. I hope you are never a coach if your philosophy is to not allow us to shoot a 36% shot opposed to a 90% shot.

We shot 3-17 from 3 and couldn't penetrate that zone in the 2nd half.OM has a significantly better chance of beating us playing a zone than they do man. Bost becomes much more ineffective as a passer and slasher when teams go zone against us.We have guys that can shoot the outside shot, but if we are off, it could kill us.

IfOM plays man against us most of the game, we will win by at least15 because we will getMoultrie and Sid the ball much easierand theywill dominate. If they play zone against us most of the game, I think we win but by something less than 10 points. We do the Harlem Globetrotter weave at the top for 25 seconds then scramble to find a bad shot when teams play zone.

Have you checked out the last three SEC games that State has played?.

Bost & Steele have been in serious 'long ball' shooting slumps. Even Hood has been 'off.' The ONLY thing that has kept us in these games has been the inside game.

We went until about midway through the second half against Alabama before we made a 3 point shot. Yes, we can shoot. However, this years teams strength is post play (Moultrie and Sidney when he feels like it) and Dee Bost penetrating and finishing or kicking out to these shooters you mention. (which are basically Bost himself and Steele). If Ole Miss comes out in man, Kennedy should be fired tomorrow.

That pretty much explains his hard-on for all players from this area of the state, regardless of their skill.

Actually I've only mentioned Shaun Smith in the Tennessee game and Ole Miss game. I mentioned him because those teams have big back courts. I do think the kid can play, but the injury to his hip has held him back.

Sorry about that didn't mean to quote anyone. I think people have written smith off for no real reason. He hasn't even been given a chance to prove himself.

He's not any better than Hood or Bryant, so give it to your guys who got you there if it's close. Both Bryant and Hood have given us key shots late in games... I wouldn't give that up to give someone who's been injured a chance just to see how he does. That's why I've written him off.

Can you tell me one thing you have seen from him that makes you think he is better than Steele, Bryant,or Devilleto take minutes away from them? You don't just throw someone out there because he hasn't been given a chance. There is a reason he hasn't. He has been hurt, and he really hasn't been very productive any of the times he's played.

Fair point. I just hate seeing a 6'5 2g on the bench. He can actually shoot well, and he can handle the rock.

Damn the coaches for never allowing him to showcasewhat makes him special in practice!!How awful of them to keep him from participating!

Each article you write is a struggle between which is worse- your writing orthe points you make.

The reality is that Smith has been at MSU for 3years now. He has also been apparently hurt for most of, if not all of that time. When he haspracticed(i assume its all the time right now), he has a chance to prove himself.
Your complainingholds no merit and your point that he is a key to winning isawful.Smith is as much a key to winning as Roquez Johnson.

The way State beats the bears is by scoring more points then they do. Why people have to complicate this is beyond me.
