The girlfriend and I were watching some Olympics, and NBC just showed Lebron, Carmelo, et al messing around on the beach volleyball court. They didn't even have to jump to get over the net.

So my question if this: If Lebron and Durant quit basketball and took up beach volleyball... Would they be successful? Would they dominate eventually? If so, how long would it take?

I personally think they could dominate within a couple of years.

A dig specialist, so to speak. Maybe Derrick Rose, shorter guy who still can get up. But yeah, I think they'd be successful almost immediately. They'd already have the ball skill experience, so it would really be a fairly quick adjustment you would think.

(a scary place for sure) in no particular order: Pheidippides, Jim Thorpe, Wayne Gretzky, Micheal Jordan, Micheal Phelps, Secretariat (do horses count?), Paavo Nurmi, Larisa Latynina, Mark Spitz, Carl Lewis, Pele, Jerry Rice, Walter Payton, Jim Brown, Muhammed Ali (the @#@#$%#$), Lance Armstrong, and Ty Cobb.

Give me a handball team with lebron for athleticism and randy Johnson for throwing gas and we win the gold every time. Lebron could leap from the line and dunk it past the keeper, and no one would step in front of the randy johnson fastball. That would be fun to watch. Throw in maybe a Calvin Johnson or Russell Westbrook and Strasburg and we are set.

if we started grooming guys who would normally be bench players in the NBA or NFL, we'd dominate every Olympics in handball
