Those 50 meter swimmers churn the water like I do, but I'm trying not to drown.
The 16 years between gold medals in that event quite frankly is mind boggling.
How exactly is it possible to be better than every other person in the world at something for 16 years?
I couldn't believe how Bad Ledecky beat the rest of the field. Those were world class Olympic athletes and she made them look like she was racing some folks at the Y.

Just out of curiosity, is swimming the only event taking place every day/night? Love for NBC to show something different once in a while.

Track and field is gearing up plus much other. Some isn't shown on tv but can stream on this site. Actually it was very good quality as well when I watched a few live sailing races in that putrid water.

I've been watching the Summer Olympics since '72. Historically, I believe swimming represents one of the marque events for the networks because the USA fields such great teams every 4 years. Most swimming events occur near the start of the games. Tomorrow, Day 9, has 4 finals events scheduled. There are no aquatics events scheduled for Sunday, Day 10. Days 11 and 12 feature just one event each (10 km marathon

Agreed. I've thought Hope Solo has been a disgraceful ***** since her first Olympics. Never really been a fan of her. I am glad NBC has been running with her comments every chance they get. Hopefully this causes her to fade into Bolivia.
Not to mention hypocritical since I'm pretty sure she won a Gold medal using the same strategy. She even admitted that the USA had played that way with their previous coach but still had the audacity to call the Swedes "Cowards". What a loser!

Yea, she just makes it look so effortless and after doing that in such a long race she should have been totally shot, lol. Just unreal the kind of swim team we have right now.
