They just announced they will be playing in the 2010 Holiday Tournament in Cancun. OM will also be with 7 other teams. Powerhouses such as Appalachian State, Colorado State, East Tennessee State, Northeastern, St. Louis, Southern Miss and Texas State will also be in the tournament. Honestly, why even schedule a tournament like this? With the exception of the nice little vacation.

this is just terrible. I honestly don't think I have seen a worse holiday tournament field. It just makes no sense to me.

and Villanova last year. I don't think that can be considered "lacking". I think we'll play a couple pretty decent teams next year too, so I have no problem with it.

and only 1 of those teams finished outside of 132 so it may not be that bad.

SLU used to have a good basketball program. I'm not sure what it's like now though.

which is better than 5 SEC teams finished last year.

Their coach is Rick Majerus, which is better than at least 10 SEC teams.

That is the reason why teams try to play in a tournament every season now.

1. Is this the same Cancun holiday tournament that UK and Stanford played in last year?
2. If so, we can still make fun of the deluxe accommodations, right?

shamelessly ripped from here.

With the exception of last year's bumbling affair of waiting until the last minute and being stuck with two FCS teams, Ole Miss has scheduled a bunch of good BCS teams in recent years - Wake, Texas Tech and Mizzou. When you include Wyoming, Ole Miss went 0-8 in those games.

When you consider that we have series lined up with Texas and Fresno State, plus a one off with Boise and a TBA series with Georgia Tech, it's hard to say we're ducking quality teams.

Was last year embarrassing? Sure. But it's hardly indicative of the program.
