OM women's programs are smoking it

They won the Golf NC, Their Volleyball team is undefeated and blowing everyone out including the #15 team in the country, their soccer team has only lost 1 game and their softball team went pretty far in the women's college world series. Their athletic director is doing something right in Oxford.

They keep this up they'll win the SEC all sports trophy.

Get back to us when they win a natty in anything that anybody gives a **** about. Too bad for them their women can't get them to Omaha or Atlanta.

Is HS volleyball in MS really so terrible that the 2 largest program in the state only have 3 girls from MS? 3 out of 36 spots between MSU and OM are from MS. That is shockingly low.

They didn’t even make it out of their regional, just like us: https://www.ncaa.com/brackets/softball/d1/2021

And the golf thing was just an all around travesty b/c the entire Baton Rouge regional was “rained out”. Our team almost won the SEC tournament and didn’t even get to play in the postseason.

Seems like we are almost always the worst at volleyball, I’ll give you that. And our WBB program is finished. We don’t seem to make good hires in women’s sports anymore, for sure.

The MHSAA was emphasizing slow pitch softball over volleyball until 2-3 years ago, so yeah, that sounds right. I have heard of a lot of schools starting up their volleyball teams in recent years but it's still just getting off the ground in this state.

You would be shocked to see what players come out of the midwest, Tx, and GA. My daughter plays club and school ball and when we travel there are some crazy good teams out of those areas. Not so much from MS or AL. TN teams are about in the middle of the talent pool in volleyball. I would say yes it is not terrible but there are not many club teams in MS and volleyball is a year around sport now.

Interesting. It is a massive HS and club sport in Iowa, same in IL, MN, NE, etc. I can't even imagine the talent in CO, UT, CA, etc where volleyball is very well established and available $ is flush.

When we go to Nationals in Orlando the teams from CO, CA, and NE are crazy good, their Right sides, Middles, and Outsides are almost taller than me, I'm 6'4". Their setters are all 6' I don't know where they grow them. The only small ones are the Liberos and they are still 5'6" 5'7".

Sorry, I thought they won that regional so oversight on my part. Our Volleyball team has made progress. They are 9-3 this year. Our soccer team is 2-3-2. They play good defense but can't seem to score.

We beat national seed Notre Dame, national seed Texas twice (while setting the all-time record for strikeouts in a CWS game), Virginia and curb-stomped national seed Vandy twice to win the ship. You're a 17ing moron.

I’ll take your word for it. Sounds like you know more about Ole Miss women’s athletics than I do. I only keep up with ones that pay the bills.

It wasn't posted to bash Cohen. I posted it because OM's sports programs are improving and I think their AD is doing a good job compared to their past ADs. I do feel that we should at least be competitive in all sports that we fund and I try to keep up with them. If we have decided that this isn't our goal then we should just say we are just meeting NCAA minimum requirements with women's programs so other schools can recruit the good players. I'm proud of any man or woman that comes to MSU to represent our school and want us to support them with quality facilities and excellent coaches. I know football, baseball, Men's and Women's basketball are the 4 programs that 99% of our fans support.

You post here about Ole Miss baseball, but it ain't paying nobody's bills. To be fair though, the FEMA flood certificate alone puts it behind the eightball financially.

I can attest, my daughter is on a travel squad in Florida and the girls in Orlando were tall. I'm talking 13U girls 6'+ on almost every team. MS and AL teams are typically not very competitive when we meet up with them. One exception was a team from Oxford that had ok talent.

Your school would benefit from flood insurance due to the incredibly poor drainage in your baseball stadium.
