Omaha to Memphis

If Opie can't use Google maps or Mapquest, I doubt he knows how to get from Springfield to Jonesboro. Good luck jed.
East on Highway 60 and it will turn into 63. From the Arky border to Jonesboro is rather interesting.
Depends on if you are looking at speed. I took the trip just last year. I took interstate to Sedalia, and then cut down all highway til I was near Memphis. The winding roller coaster highways were awesome. Took me right down the east side of the Ozarks. I rather enjoyed the drive in my Trans Am.
A couple of people that I worked with said to go to Saint Louis but map quest showed the route through Springfield the fastest.

I took the St. Louis route a couple of years ago, it's a little longer but mostly interstate driving.
Four lane divided highway through Springfield, then 2 lane winding, hilly driving almost all the way to Jonesboro. You get a centerlane passing area every 5 or 10 miles, but when you get behind a semi and a number of cars, its tough to make much progress in those passing areas. And you go through several towns. So, resign yourself to driving about 55-60 for stretches and enjoy the scenery. But, if you get antsy following trucks and RVs up and down winding hills, then go through St. Louis and take 55 down to Memphis -- particularly if you are driving at night. Takes a little longer, but probably safer for night time driving. Plus, you can make up for the extra mileage driving 78 or so on the interstate. Up to your preference for type of drive. But, again, the Ozarks do make for a really nice drive if you relax and enjoy the drive.
Couple of things: When you come out of the hills before Jonesboro when it turns into a four lane divided highway, I have never driven that stretch (30'ish miles) and not seen a handful of cars pulled over. They seem to patrol it pretty heavily - or they get advanced warning I'm on my way.
Also, I now take highway 36 between St. Joseph and Hannibal. You avoid KC, Columbia and the general congestion of Interstate 70 across MO. Not a true interstate as there are some cross roads and driveways, but its four lane divided highway and mostly interstate style. Hwy 61 out of Hannibal turns into I64 west of St. Louis. Take that to I270 in western St. Louis area and cut down to 55 on the South side.

thats true, at night in arkansas is probably not a lot of fun. very hilly. if you're going during the week during the day, you wont see much traffic.
Highway 6 to Ashland, take County Road 4 to County Road "C" which turns into State Highway 63. Turn left at the sign and your there. Have a nice trip and if you have time stop off a Bakers and get some chocolates.
I made it to Memphis thanks for the help, the part of the drive in Arkansas was pretty and interesting.
