back to the point...........you asked how could anyone vote for Heyward over Rasmus. well, since Heyward had nearly DOUBLE the RBIs of Rasmsus for most of the voting, since he absolutely dominated him in that catagory, that pretty much answers your question, now doesn't it?
i don't know about you, but when i vote i look at the basic stats: BA, HR, RBI, SB, and SLG or OPS if it's given. when i looked at OFs, i sorted by RBIs, as sorting by anything else didn't give clear choices. i only mention that to point out that if we switched to manager voting, i doubt it would be any better. i doubt any manager would sit down and pour over OPS stats day by day. judging by college football coach voting, they won't take much time on it at all (if any, many just farm it out to lowly assistants). all-star game selections will never be perfect, small sample sizes, yada yada.
maybe the all-star game should be later, like early august?
if you want to put out some stats on RBI chances, BA with runners in scoring position, etc., i'll look at it, i love stats and i haven't looked that up, but i think this horse has been beaten enough.
as to who's better, we'll see in the long run.
