OMG. Is this is true, liberal heads will figuratively explode, maybe some literally

I would think most Americans really don't care where the embassy is. We simply want our government to support an ally in the region.

Actually I'm not sure that's true. Both Republican and Democrat administrations have opposed this move even though they campaigned on that promise. I think they were afraid of the violent reaction it would cause.

This is why Trump is so hated by the elites in both parties. My guess is the reaction will be hot but will be contained without much violence if the embassy is placed in the Jewish section of Jerusalem.

If the embassy is attacked and an ambassador killed, will there be the same outrage?

Bad move for safety...it WILL be a major target

I don't think you'll see any deaths although clearly the Palestinians want to kill as many Jews as humanly possible. That would also like to kill as many Americans as possible.

No he would not be aware of that. And I agree the Embassy in Jerusalem will be very safe.
Actually I read that in an article about missle installations being built in Syria. But surely, you didn't assume that I didn't know something, right Paxx? I mean you and Cajun and the rest of the right are sooooo much better than that aren't you?

If you were aware then you comment about less safety in Jerusalem was truly dumb.

Boom, to be honest I think I am much more informed about the Middle Eastern than you. I have visited there many many times and read a great deal mainly due to my wife's family. The American Embassy in Jerusalem will be well protected. But there is no question the Palestinians will be visibly upset. Just as the Jews were visibly upset by Obama's backstabbing them at the UN.

You spent time in the ME. I have a degree in NE Archaeology and spent enough time there I don't need a map to go anywhere, but we're the ones ill informed. Boomboom was more fun when he readily admitted he knows little.

All he has to do is look at a map. Then look at the distance that Palestinian Rockets can be carried. Or should I say Iranian Rockets provided through Hamas with money provided by Obama. Yes please

I think it will be a more venerable terrorist target in Jerusalem. But hey, I'm dumb and I don't know much. Cajun and paxx are so much smarter, more informed, and surprisingly not condescending at all. You have to be liberal to be condescending I guess.

Yes, because there's no desire to attack the US embassy in TA.

I said bad move for safety and it will be a target....how is that stating that I know so much about the region? A missle attack against an American installation is met with American retaliation. A terrorist attack isn't tougher in Tel Aviv than in Jerusalem?

Let me provide you with a startling fact. We do not let terrorist determine our foreign policy. We do not cow tail to terrorist demands. We did not exchange money to terrorists for hostages except in the Obama administration.

You were amazed at how shallow my knowledge is suggesting yours is greater. A "rocket," not missile, attack would be a terrorist attack.

i didn't and don't think my knowledge about a lot of things is greater than yours. I am just amazed at how much you are confident in knowing, in that just stating your opinion isn't enough....you have to run down others opinions as dumb, because you are so much more of an expert. On Alexander Hamilton, Islamic history, defensive strategy, domestic policy, etc..... it just can't be contained can it? Your immense reach of expertise. Though I doubt it's really that deep in much other than archeology.

In order to evaluate my knowledge as shallow you would have to consider yours superior.

We’ve gone over this before--just because your feel dumb doesn’t mean someone else made you feel that way. It’s the natural consequence of being fabulously wrong.

I read. You should try it.

And it’s archaeology unless you are some kind of anthropophagite.

And you said dumb. AND you know very little about me, what I read, what I believe, or what I know. But keep thinking you do, soon you might convert to being a liberal, since you're always so right and righteous

I said your statement is dumb, which is true. I claim no knowledge about you. Yet in this very post you claim to know what I think. Hypocrite.

Of course it was superior. Do you think others should lower themselves to make you feel better about yourself?
I think you should be aware that your jabs on a discussion board are not a measure of your intellectual prowess. Debate, discuss, but do something else to make yourself feel powerful.

But that's not assuming is it?

I really don't get much from you but condescension, other than the occasional fact correction which I used to appreciate. But taken as a whole....you're just annoying and elitist. So I think ignore is best for both of us. Thanks for the laughs, you are funny at times...even when the jabs landing on my chin

We already have a consulate in Jerusalem, and Jerusalem is no less safe than Tel Aviv. I actually felt more at ease in Jerusalem to be honest.

Edit: I just finished reading the thread. My post wasn't needed. Not getting enough sleep Boom?

Actually, I'm not at all. Cajun style just a little too much for me. I'll stick with my jerk chicken.

He made a well informed comment based on decades of experience in the region in response to you. I didn't see anything to lead down a bad road until you responded.

Your opening post was to try and draw in a Benghazi type comparison scenario. Your basis for making your argument was factually incorrect and there are several people on here who can attest personally to it. Ironically enough, your Benghazi scenario is exactly what we have right now in Israel. The Embassy is in Tel Aviv (Tripoli) and the Consulate is in Jerusalem (Benghazi).

I wasn't speaking to any details (I'm not conceded enough to think I can). I think the presence of a US embassy in Jerusalem would be a giant symbolic target for terror attack. Combining the US - Israel and the religious and political significance of the placement. I brought up Benghazi as a challenge to hold Trump as accountable for poor decisions.

I am certainly not educated on tactical strategy in the Middle East. And my thinking could be wrong on this change. I enjoy getting set straight by those who know. I just can't stand the hypocrisy of someone who belittles and uses condescending tones in response, then claims to be modest and magnanimous. There are plenty on here (like you) to pinch me in the mouth when I need it, the high and mighty tone makes me combative...and I don't listen.
