so bad that he wanted to meet with Jones because he thought Jones could help sway the administration and public opinion toward his hire.

Hmm that may be true who knows… I think he'd still have pounced on the Louisville job as soon as it opened, thats where he wanted to be

mmm, NO! Petrino was coming off a huge scandal at Arkansas and he was trying to rebuild his career and reputation. Gave a huge speech at UofL saying that was his last stop to try ensure fans he wouldn't be bouncing around to another job.

Oh yeah..that Louisville job is very very attractive, I mean they're a football powerhouse. I mean they play in a better conference (nope), have a bigger fanbase (nope), have more tradition (nope) have better facilities (nope) have a better recruiting base (nope), have more resources (nope)

Sadly it is more attractive right now but thats besides the point. I just think he liked and missed what he had in Louisville before he left back in 005 or 06 whatever year it was

As sad as it sounds, I'd bet Petrino would still take this job even today. Now we would have to pay him much more than we would've, but he would still take it. It's in the SEC and that's where he wants to be.

LOL. Everyone including WKU knew Bobby was a short term deal. A coach of that caliber is not going to be at a mid major for long.

Former players even pushed for Petrino. I don't think anything would of convinced Mitch. I confess, I didn't want him either but mostly bc I thought he wouldn't stay here and leave the program in a mess when he did.

the difference is Petrino is on record saying these things I'm saying here. Im not sure Pitino has come out and expressed his love for coaching at Uk and calling Lexington his home.

I'm still glad UK didn't hire Petrino. There are plenty of good coaches out there. We just didn't get one in stoops.

Serious question.

In hindsight, hypothetically, if Petrino stays at louisville until retirement, has little player issues, no personal issues, and turns his antics around, would you still say this?

I know I know, long shot, but if?

I cant help but think Matts fair weather fan attitude towards football swayed his "moral" decision to decline bobbys invite. If a bobby petrino caliber bball coach needed a job and we needed a coach it would be a different story
Mitch is a whole nother problem altogether . That idiot gives coaches raises and extensions for losing and refuses to hire good coaches when the opportunity is available

Pitino called Lexington Camelot and what the hell do you expect Petrino to say?

Just wait till 11/26. We will get our asses handed to us but at least we will have our self righteous dignity.

Sometimes life gives you chances and opens doors for you...we didn't walk through the door and that Petrino blunder by Mitch will haunt this program for years and years imo.

It's sad but true. A miss like that can haunt you for decades. It could cost UK our football fans to Louisville, especially the younger generations. It's something we may never be able to recover from.

I bet Mitch was like, YES! I'm in the big boys club in the SEC! We are blackballing petrino! I'm a big boy now! One of the guys!!

While they laugh at his *** as soon as he turns his back.

What's Ironic is that Jones stated on one of his shows this week that UK is actually like in the top 5 in player involved discipline issues in college football.

You know what I want my football coach to do? Win games and keep the program out of the ncaa's doghouse. That's it. He does not set my moral compass. He's not my friend. He not my pastor. He's a football coach. I wanted Bobby Petrino and apparently we could've had him. Sad state of affairs here right now.

The bottom line is that football at its core just another form of entertainment and the UK brand is like sour pickles.
