With only ~ 256 players selected in the draft ...

Johnson got a Free Agent offer from Miami and still has a good shot to make the team. Listed as the #4 free agent ...

[h=3]4. Anthony Johnson, DL, Miami Dolphins[/h]Analysis: LSU has produced a ton of good defensive tackles over the years, so it was interesting to see Johnson's name was not called in the draft. He's got good size and quickness and was productive during his time in Baton Rouge. Some folks thought he could be a second-day draft pick, but his lack of consistency seemed to catch up to him. The Dolphins need some help along the defensive line, and Johnson can earn some playing time if he lives up to his potential.

Shirley he filled out the paperwork to be evaluated by scouts prior to declaring for the draft. Had they told him he should go in the top 3 rounds it seems odd that he wouldn't get drafted at all. If the scouts said he would be a late round selection, why would he even declare? Either this guy has a lot of idiots around him giving him very bad advice or there is a behind the scenes reason he left early.

I think there are very real locker room issues at LSU between the staff and players.

Well one of the reasons is he's just not that great. And another is the drug test issues at the combine.

That seems to be a common issue with several of the early entrants who weren't drafted (Roberson and Purifoy from UF). All had failed drug tests and all were borderline draftable. You can get drafted with one or the other but not both.

Last I saw the 2 from UF hadn't been signed but I'm a day behind on following signings.

That was the thinking in the offseason last year as well if I remember right, and it didn't seem to cause them any problems. I suppose a second year of it and uncertainty at QB could make that a different story this year, however.

A receiver from Rutgers who was given a 3rd round grade last year (redshirt sophomore I believe) tore his ACL and left with a year of eligibility on the table without getting a draft grade and went undrafted. Who knows who these guys have in their ears. Reminds me of DeAndre Brown leaving USM and never making a practice squad despite being a 1st team All-American selection.
