I'm just now seeing this about Juice not even being Kiffin's actual dog, so apoligies if German. Juice apparently lives with a handler and was only trotted out with Kiff for PR.

On the list of "Most Ole Miss Things Ever," this has to be near the top.

It's style over substance to the extreme. Here we have a mascot and a town built on self-mythology, where a head coach inventing a pet feels normal because everyone is pretending anyway. Juice isn't just a dog. He is Oxford in canine form. He is a carefully curated, Insta-ready illusion.

Here we had a grown man faking having a dog to make himself more "relatable" to the same type of man who gets a little too excited when the boys wear their powder blue.

This is why Kiffin was actually perfect for Oxord. He didn't clash with the fakeness. He completed it. Kiffin and juice were the living embodiment of a place that values image over truth. Juice was fake, the charm is fake, and the whole program and city run on the same manufactured shine.

And on another note, all of you who parroted what your rebel friends told you about Kiffin never leaving Oxford should have that somewhere in your bio. I never believed that nonsense for a minute. They are us and we are them. They caught lightning with a great coach. It was inevitable that he would use them for a big boy job just like he would have to us.

I didn’t factor in what OM people were saying with my Kiffin prediction. I’m glad I was wrong. Your paragraph copied below is 100% of the reason why I thought he was staying.

“This is why Kiffin was actually perfect for Oxford. He didn't clash with the fakeness. He completed it. Kiffin and juice were the living embodiment of a place that values image over truth. Juice was fake, the charm is fake, and the whole program and city run on the same manufactured shine.”

OM fans are now clambering to post about the unsavory things Kiffin had done in Oxford that we all heard rumors about. They were the perfect group to keep his Freshwater antics quiet. I fully expected him to stay at a place that values his low character, because they are one and the same with the culture that is OM.

You have to hand it to them. They are masters of the fake persona. These people made Hugh Freeze look like Franklin Graham when he was Baby Billy.

in two weeks or less.. Golding will have some past issue that he had overcome to get a head coaching job, he will have adopted a pure bred, trained, and pricy Lafayette County animal shelter dog and it is now his faithful companion, and he is now the complete family man.. full of faith.. and just looooooves Oxford.

Wait, so was the dog just invented so Lane could tweet semi-anonymously? Or was there a tangible pooch that actually attended...what games, pep-rallies, etc? and Lane pretended it was his?

You forget that Ole Miss fans can never ever fathom why someone would ever leave Oxford, its a true slice of Heaven tucked away in North Mississippi!

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Oxford needs to be declared a superfund site so that it can be excavated 4 feet below the surface.

The dog was originally bought for Kiffin’s daughter, but according to scorned Ole Miss people, it hasn’t lived with Kiffin for more than two years and is basically a school mascot that they paraded around with Kiffin. They say the dog has been left behind in Oxford.

Does this mean Pete Golding is the new Marty Huggins of Ole Miss Football?

One of my friends posted a picture of a bad area of Baton Rouge and basically said why would anyone leave our Hallmark perfect town for this?

This is why Kiffin was actually perfect for Oxord. He didn't clash with the fakeness. He completed it.

That's the perfect line.

Man, I was not going to make sure that Kiffin ends up with me down here. But now I think I am. He fooled me with the dog, and I really thought the dog was his. Surely, nobody would use a dog just for PR stunts. Then again, OM people are so fake this actually makes perfect sense. I just have to draw the line at the use of dogs for PR stunts.

Supposedly, Kiffin did actually own him, but he stays at the handler's place since Lane didn't stay in Oxford much except during practice times, workouts and game weeks.

I saw it posted somewhere that Lane was clearing somewhere between $200k-300k / year for his social media engagements. I imagine Juice twitter was invented to help add to that.

This is a fantastic statement. Lane presented a mirror image to the folks in Oxford. He was great while they were winning. Now that he's shunned them, they'll expose every nasty trait he has. But they need to be cautious in how much they amplify his character flaws. Because that would mean they'd have to confront that part of their own existence as well.
