You people need to chill the +@@% out.
Dan Mullen came in this year and gave us the most explosive offense that we have had at MSU in recent memory. He did all of this with a bunch of 2 star recruits and a QB that would not have been on the 3 deep at any other SEC school. We were 2 inches and a blown illegal forward pass call from winning seven games. He took Croom personnel that scored ZERO points last year in Oxford, and beat the **** out of "the most talented Ole Miss team in 30 years" putting 41 points on the board.
Yes, we have lost out on a few recruits, but those are recruits that would not have even sniffed MSU 2 years ago. The fact that we have even been competitive in recruiting (and in all actuality have a decent class pulled together) is astonishing coming off of 9 losing seasons this decade. Ole Miss will finish ahead of us, but not by much and they are coming off of their best 2 year stretch since the 60s.
Again, chill the +@@% out.

...but they will finish way ahead of us in recruiting unless we get Robinson and even then we'll be behind.

I think he is as good as an offensive mind as there is in America, but I just wish he would have hired better assistants who could help him in recruiting. I just dont see Dan as the salesman type of a recruiter for one on one with high school kids (nor was Crooms) I think that if Dan could have kept Frank Wilson, our recruiting class would have been a lot better. I think he has done a pretty good job recruiting Mississippi kids, but I just wish we could have had our BIG recruiting weekend this weekend for the LSU game instead of 2 weeks ago. Momentum shifts from week to week in the recruiting game.

as they should downtown.... they just won two 17'ing cotton bowl's in a row, we've won a combined 9 games in two years. don't know how you people think we can expect much more. i'd say we're recruiting pretty strong considering the circumstances. i promise you it could definitely be worse.

I mean, it's not that Mullen and staff are just sitting around, not working their asses off. Everybody in the SEC West went to a bowl and have been to bowls and we've got a lot to overcome, not only in state (which we seem to be doing), but regionally. He's been here 13 months and shown that he knows what the hell he's doing, but everybody recruiting against us has a better resume than us. Not because of Mullen but because of Sly and LT and all their "we are poor Miss State, give us eight years."

I'm pissed too but the competition is more than stiff. (that's what she said)

but I've wondered if the Urban Meyer/Florida fiasco hasn't had aeffect on Mullen. Not the effects of the fiasco with the recruits, but the effects on Mullen's mindset/morale. What was it, the day after Christmas, Mullen's name is all over ESPN as the next potential head coach from Florida? .. so, if you're Mullen, you're thinking "holly ****. this is going to be great. I might get to go back to Florida, make a ton of money, coach one of the best programs in the nation, cherry pick recruits, palm trees, sunshine, seemingly unlimited athletic money, etc etc" .... then a couple days later *boom* ........ Meyer's no longer leaving. Reality hits and he has to deal w/ the fact that he is NOT going to Florida. I wonder, in Mullen's mind, if he had already moved on to Florida, mentally.

A few years ago, I almost landed a really great job, would have had paid trips to Londona few times ayear, national exposure, big raise.... then they called one day and said their office was being closed. .... mentally, I had already moved on from my previous job and was toally focused on the new position. Then, it didn't happen and I was demoralized, and it really took awhile to give a **** about my"old" job.... can't help but wonder if Mullen did the same thing.

and along with that, the fact that we lost a defensive coordinator anda dline coach, probably hindered our recruiting efforts quite a bit. Who really knows, but me personally I don't think there was much "might" too it......Mullen was going to get that job. Just the fact that it came up, let's alot of players know that Mullen isn't going to be in Starkville very long. And that hurts recruiting. But don't get me wrong, there's only a select few jobs Mullen would leave for - it just turns out that one of them (Florida), is going to be open sooner than later.

to that. Taking this into consideration I honestly do not think that Mullen took this job with the idea that he was going to be around here that long. He is looking to move up and on asap and I understand that.

soon as Torbush left, everyone said Diaz was the man ... then the holidays happened, Meyer quit then came back, then nothing happened w/ the d-coordinator, ... then, the WEEK OF our big recruiting weekend, we finally hired the guy we all wanted in the first place. I'm telling ya, it takes a while to re-set your mind from like that and it's so easy to let yourself do. There's a decent chance he was alreay gone, mentally. I also know Mullen took a vacation, too, which is totally normal .. just sayin
