Speaks to his legacy for sure for all those guys to comment like they have. Something most have taken for granted.

A better question is what will an engineering company like Neel Quaeda do with

Rusty Hampton? They must think the Clarion Ledger needs engineering work............

Quite a few blasts from the past. Paul Borden commented. Alas, no Raad Cawthon but I think he'd left the Clarion-Ledger 2-3 years before then.

Rusty was often accused from all sides of favoritism. His only favoritism was to put out the best section he could, which got increasingly difficult over the years. Guys like Sekou, Ian, Brandon and many, many others learned much from him. He will be badly missed.

Good post Rick.

Also, if you'd told me 8 years ago Rick Cleveland would be posting on sixpack...

Speaking of CL writers past, this was one of Orley Hood's all-time classics...

The Jackson Daily/Clarion Ledger has had it's fair share of great writers, you included. It's a shame that all some folks will ever know is what passes for a paper today. There's something special about reading the newspaper, the feel, the ink smudges. I can remember many times when a sack full of Jackson Daily News papers conspired to launch me over my bike handlebars by getting caught up in the front wheel while I was delivering...

Is Rusty Hampton the editor, or big dog, at the CL? The article sounds like it, but I'm not familiar enough with a newspaper's chain of command to know if he's the top one there or down the chain a bit.

From my understanding, he is going to be removing some of the technical language throughout their engineers' documentation. This will improve the communication between not only the engineers, but the people that need a higher level understanding the engineering work.
