I'm gonna start a thread weekly asking who everyone thinks is the one guy (Offense or Defense) that will be the most important player for the upcoming game. Give your answer and why...

Chris White

Part of the triple option is the HB dive play up the middle. While running around the ends and using the option pitch is effective and at times unstoppable, it becomes one-dimensional if the up the middle HB dive is consistently stuffed by the DT's or the Inside linebacker. The auburn game got out of control only after Tate started breaking it up the middle. If the linebacker and DT's can hold down the middle, it allows the safties to stay wider and hampers getting to the corner. IN this game, White must play big and be a sure tackler. If you have played football too, most would agree that the most psychologically demoralizing play is to get gashed right up the middle too. It just sucks the wind out of you.

But from everything you said, why are you saying White (weak side LB) instead of Chaney (middle LB)?

Well, using the 3-4, he has been playing one of the inside spots and in the 4-3, he plays both. I think being the naturally bigger, prototypical inside backer, that he will spend a lot of his time inside stopping the dive for this game and letting Jamar do more QB chasing. Just my opinion of course...I could be totally wrong.
