I was worried about this game because Goforth is coming off of his best start. We got him up to 120 pitches- and then Ole Miss put Huber in again- that surprised me. Pleasantly.

Brent Brownlee and CT Bradford really stepped up and got the big key hits in the game.

I thought it was hilarious when Vickerson caught that pop up in left field. It looked like something Manny Ramirez would do.

Routt got us through five. He has to make sure he follows through on his pitches though. I don't think he had his best stuff, be he toughed it out. Statz did his job for the most part- until the 9th inning. I was infuriated that he couldn't throw strikes to get through the ninth, and forced us to use Caleb Reed. I should be happy Statz did what he did, though. But, at least Caleb got out of it on about five pitches. Devin Jones is dead to me. I've got no use for him. With my luck, the Cardinals will draft his sorry ***.

We are running all over their ***. You know it's bad when we have a runner go on first movement and he goes into third standing up and doesn't even really run all that hard.

Also, 8,000+? Are you kidding me?

And what was Dave Neal talking about with how good the field conditions were? I've seen church softball fields that drained better than Lake Sardis out there at Swayze Field. And I'm not kidding about that. The field conditions were good if they were building a reservoir.

We need seven innings out of Stratton tommorrow. We've won the series, and now we can go for the sweep. We just have to continue taking it one game at a time. Also, 13 wins- I think 14 is the magic number for the SEC Tournament. And we have the tiebreaker over Auburn and Ole Miss. That could be big later.

Hated to use Reed again, but we HAD to win that game with a 4 run lead. Devin Jones, see ya later. This team is playing with some confidence and enthusiasim right now, which we have not seen in several years. That showed tonight seeing as all 7 of our runs were scored on 2 outs.<div>
</div><div>Win tomorrow and our ticket is all but punched for Hoover. Should we win tomorrow and win 2/3 next weekend, we will play into a 2 seed down in Hattiesburg, which as a State fan is exactly what we want. </div>

Sheppard's catch in the stands. They had runners at 1st at 2nd with one out at that point. Making that out killed their momentum Huge spot in the game.

And to be fair on the ponding in the outfield.. I'm not sure you appreciate how much rain fell in Oxford between 5-7pm yesterday. Sure, Neal's comments about the great condition of the field were overstated, but there's no drainage system in the world that could've kept up.

than is being disclosed. I hope he can get it fixed and have a great pro career because he is by all accounts a very good kid.

I don't think he is all the way back from his surgery, but he just knows how to pitch. He gave up 5 hits and 2 of those were in the first inning. I sure hope he comes back next year but I don't see it as he has way too much upside for MLB.

Statz did a great job last night, if it would have been me I would have pulled him after the first runner got on base in the 9th.

I don't think it will effect Reed going two innings if needed today, throwing 3 pitches in the ninth is nothing.

As bad as I have criticized the seniors on this team now I have to praise them. They are providing the leadership you need for post season play.

Lastly, you got to wonder what is going thru Cohen's mind with the laswsuit, he seemed pretty relaxed but I bet the suit is going thru his mind all of the time.

Uhhhh... Seriously? There was more than an hour between the ranfall and the start of the game. It has nothing to do with "keeping up" it's about building the field where water is allowed to drain without pooling. I'm sure all fields have some problems but that was bad. If it wasn't televised I don't think they would have played.
