...on the links. So much for our "Star Power." Aside from Tiger and Justin Thomas, pretty dismal stuff from the Americans. The International team's Super Bowl.

The last 20 years, American golfers are increasingly soft.
When they're hot, they're hot.
When they're not, they fold.

I’m not sure soft is the word but unmotivated, yes. But the pairings on the US side suck. Of course, the talking heads will try to blame Reed for the bad play. Simple really, putt well you win, miss 3 foot Eagle puts you will lose.

This “tournament” always seemed made up and never had the zest or appeal of the Ryder Cup. USA always won on just talent. No emotion. I still think they win it but even as big of a golf fan as I am, I honestly don’t really care all that much.

It lacks the history of the Ryder Cup for sure, and the Euros have about five times as much talent to draw from as the International team does in the President's Cup, so the competition has really been one sided.

That's changing - the emergence of guys like Im, An, Matsuyama foreshadow a growing talent pool to pull from in Asia. They've had their fair share of "stars" over the years (Price, Singh, Els, Goosen, Scott, Day) but never any depth. I expect that the President's Cup will be more competitive going forward than it has been up to this point.

This is only marginally related, but my father-in-law hosted a few Austrialian chicks for a LPGA qualifier in Indiana. All of them were extraordinarily hot.
