I may be in the minority, but I also think, Javin, White, and Vrank are going to be good players for us. I'd say Jeter, but I think he heads to UNLV.

2012 and 2015 aren't good examples to defend the OaD method. 2012 worked for UK because they were absolutely loaded, like one of the top recruiting classes of the decade loaded. 2015 worked for Duke because we already had a solid foundation of upperclassmen who mentored our freshman, who also happened to be our most talented group of OaDers by far. Pair that with the fact that those 2015 freshman actually bought in from day one and had great chemistry with one another.

2012 was just unreal and 2015 was much more than just the OaD guys.

2012 isn't even a great example because they had two sophomores and a senior that were crucial.

Not always but honestly are you happy with what we are right now? Especially after the hype? It's just disappointing to have so much hype and then it's over
I'm with you pisgah.. I'm not happy with where we are. Sure I'm ecstatic to have 2 titles this decade but aside from that, a single elite eight is all we have to show. If we weren't getting the best talent in the world then I might feel different but I just think aside from the 2 titles, we have underachieved big time.

The whole problem would be solved if the NCAA and the NBA got it together and let the hot shots go straight to the NBA out of school and if players did decide on college ball they have to stay 3 years just like baseball. The 1st 2 or 3 years there would be quite a few declaring I imagine and there would be a lot disappointed but over time things would work out. The D league would grow for sure but the great programs would still be great with the exception we would see players at those programs 3 and 4 years. I would love it and we would never miss those that went straight to the NBA. Anyone miss LeBron James one year. I don't because he never was there and I don't care. OFC

I was going to write a long comment about how recruiting is all about perspective but I'm still too annoyed from last night.

Were Duke, we have the ability to recruit the best basketball players in the country year in/year out. Why would we ever not recruit the best?????
Asking for K to change his recruiting philosophy because of an unlucky season is just stupid.

Dunleavy jr. For sure, and probably Boozer. Boozer was a second round pick after 3 years back then, but a guy like that averaging 13 and 7 as a freshman now, leaves.

And all of those guys (outside of Jason) had very productive careers and made tons of money. Maybe they could have left earlier and done just as well. Maybe not? I'd say that staying could ONLY be considered a good decision when looking back.

I'm not saying they should, or shouldn't have. I'm saying they would have, if it were today, because today is ridiculous.

Since the "must be 1 year removed from HS rule was installed" in 2006...not many guys have improved their draft stock and stuck in the league by sticking around another year (seriously, give me 2 guys and I'll be impressed.)

I love college basketball as much as anyone, but let's face it, in today's day and age it's the minor leagues.

Out of curiosity, Are you from Alaska?
No. Started watching Duke regularly in middle school and playing basketball - I had a very good even elite jump shot, hence my focus on Trajan. The screename is respect to a player long forgotten that helped rebuild the program and the nickname was really cool too;)

I grew up in Alaska. Langdon is still the best high school player from the state. I was a Duke fan before him, but was pretty excited when he chose Duke!! I had his dad's Anthropology class in college. He could put a crackhead to sleep.

What is Boozer's affiliation to Alaska?

Yah too bad Trajan didn't leave with a NCAA Title but the programs improvement during his tenure was enough for me. Never in my wildest dreams did I think the program would eclipse Coach K pre-back injury. My earliest exposure to Duke was a phenomenal 4th grade female teacher whom was Duke alum - so the 1994 Title Game letdown

If I may ask, are you still located in Alaska? It is impressive how Trajan has played in so many exotic leagues - Italy, Turkey and Russia. Wonder if he can channel his experience into some sort of coaching but he seemed the more lead by example type. Do you remember which other schools recruited Trajan?

I may be wrong but I thought Boozer's dad was in the military. OFC

Boozer played for Juneau Douglas high school and graduated 2 years before I did. He was born in gemany and his dad was in the military. He dunked on me really savagely when I was a sophomore. He played point-center and had a lot of skills we didn't see at Duke. He became a true big man and lost a little agility, with his added muscle and foot injuries.

Trajan was recruited by everyone. I don't think he really thought about anyone else though. Maybe Stanford, his dad was a professor and he's a guy that could of gotten an Ivy League scholarship, academically.

I'm not surprised, he was an underrated passer. I feel bad for Carlos, he was a bit under-appreciated at every stop from Duke to Utah and Chicago. I don't even remember his time with the Cavaliers but remember his departure a surprise to everyone.

This isn't even about just tonight but overall. Is the one and done philosophy actually worth it? We won it in 15 and U.K. Did in 13 but NO other team has won a national title with them. I think it's time to re-evaluate and try to build a team.. our D has been atrocious for a long time now but can you build a team that can play real D in a season?
We won in 2012, not 2013. We couldn't even beat Robert Morris after losing Noel. Anyway, it would work a lot better, if Cal was good in game coach. Im not sure why it doesn't work for you. I'm sure you guys appreciate his deficiencies. No reason you shouldn't have had to play us in both 2010 and 2015. Those teams were great.

HAD to play you? Or GOT to play you? Anyway, we handled our business, you didn't. We beat the team that beat you. Not our fault you couldn't beat Wisconsin. Sometimes it's not necessarily the best team that wins the title, but in 2015 the best team definitely did. Y'all can deny it all you want, but Duke was clearly the best team that season.
