Greatness must bre recognized, and GW's conference and home winning streak was as good as it gets. I also think this was the first loss for this senior class.

Hats off, undefeated is overrated.

A new streak starts tomorrow.

So you're saying the redshirt seniors lost an earlier game to Lyons?

Well JC was mentioning a conference and home winning streak. I just remember that game a few years back as I was there. It was week 9 2010 (I did have to check the year so that was 6 years ago not 5). Maine South's conference streak is still going. I lost count at how long it was,...

Gooms,

I had nothing better to do with no job and the move. Gotta admit it's fun to Heckle from 750 miles away and no stake in the game!

So I know you like to travel from Friday night lights...when you coming to PA?

LOL I don't think I looked at the board most of the spring and summer.

We can get you a visiting officials gig here in PA. Gotta admit some of the crews I've seen here this season make your crew look like an NFL caliber group...wink wink!

My crew NFL caliber? Not possible.

@JCHILLTOPPERS thanks for the kind words. It was a great run. No Gooms it was not a MS run but 32 games against much larger schools like LT, OPRF and HC is a pretty cool run.

You know JWar you really are a complete tool. Our boys and families can take a loss without crying by the lake. You are a troll

GW lost two captains to ugly injuries on back to back drives and were a little shell shocked. All the parents just broke a fun party where everyone agreed that this would serve our program well in the long run. Our kids know you learn much more in a loss than in victory. Our boys learned the world doesn't end when you lose.

I realize it's easy to dislike a team like GW. I get it. Now maybe JWar and others can move along and troll someone else.

Other than Jwar being a tool your statements are 100% correct. MS does have an easier conference but when you beat LT OPRF and HC every year for 5 years you are doing something right.

I guess that "best" defense ever we heard about all summer must have played somewhere else.
Yea, that was my assessment of this team and it' s obvious that it's not panning out this season. I thought LT did a great job on GW and really exposed GW short comings. You can't be a work in process in week 5. Next 2 weeks will be a test of character, for the coaches and the kids.

Your boastful attitude last year started this nonsense. You brought it upon yourself again this year when you failed to live up to your own hype. You've been here a whopping 2 years, now take a seat, shut your yap, and enjoy the rest of the season.

My comments aren't directed at the boys, the coaches, or the program as a team, they are direct at knuckleheads like you that talk as if you are playing as part of the team. Enjoy your party and the humble pie you and chuck are sharing tonight with that 5 TD line he laid.

Even though this years version of the hitters was vastly overrated, JWar has routinely proven himself as a tool. I have a feeling both will be proven again in the next few weeks as GW loses at least one more game and JWar continues his trolling of various fan bases.

Yea I have over estimated GW this year, and really stepped on it in my 5 TD prediction. I appreciate that you focus on us and not the kids or the coaches. I hope they can pull together and make this a successful season.

I can't speak for Capn, but for myself, I try to just offer my thoughts and predictions, but I don't think I boast or gloat. I always try to offer a positive comment on the kids from both teams, but when it comes to GW, they do have 9 years of success to point to, along with a few state championships the last few years. If my enthusiasm offends some of you, I apologize for nothing. If I have said something untruthful and hurtful about your team or one of your kids, I appologize. If you are just angry and pissed off at the world, well, I can't do anything to make you happy, so I'll just move on to next weekend's games.

And for the record, over the last 5 seasons GW has beat LT by 5, 2, 5, 6, and 4 TD's. Predicting a 5 TD victory, while completely wrong, was not without some historical backup.

No worries Chuck. Your optimism is encouraging. As an alum for the dark year of the late 90's, I always expect the worst. Hopefully the injuries aren't that bad and they can win one of the two big conference games that remain.

If you have read everything I have written, I was bearish on GW this year. I suggested holes in the preseason and continued to express doubts after the 14-6 egg we laid at HS. I have not expressed a single issue with DSR voters not having GW higher. Only thing I playfully criticized DSR about was their preoccupation with 80+ point extravaganzas.

Last year I was huge supporter of GW being the best team this side of Wilmette. Even my arguments questioning DSR were more about the logic of the value of win margins against common opponents. 2013-14 I was here under a different handle because I was too much of an idiot to figure out how to renew with Yahoo.

My passion for GW is sincere and sometimes irritating. Guilty. I have always tried to be respectful and even made some friends with opponents supporters. I am very obnoxious about my love for Duchon Field. Not sure why because the bathrooms are too old and small, the stands were built 80 years ago and should really be replaced and don't get everyone started on the parking problem. But we aren't obnoxious enough to have Jumbotrons or a good sound system. The field plays like a loose toupee and once weather comes it becomes unplayable.

So I accept being the target of GW hatred. I don't hide and run away. I am not whining about people being happy at GWs apparent demise. What I dislike is people picking one phrase out of one sentence between two GW fans comparing GW teams of the past against the current as boastful. If GW fans want say whether this is GW's greatest defense ever, that is a non boastful discussion. It is a subjective evaluation of one team against another. In in this case, we were comparing against a 2011 GW defense that gave up 6 points per game. When I mentioned back to Chuck that this team was in the discussion, GW had given up 5 per game, in an era where avg points per game are through the roof.

Funny thing about football is that fans can be rather fanatic. If my discussions on this board were offensive to other fans, I apologize. I do my best to edit my passion but everyone has a bad day. I will continue to hang out here because I really enjoy those that weave great stories around silly things like weekly rankings. I love doing the math of the Playoff outlook and all the work Catch puts into the weekly projections.

The good news is that everyone now has my cryptonite. If I ever sound boastful or disrespectful on this board, you just have to say LT and I will shut my mouth and recognize my misstep. Cheers to LT. Cheers to LT QB Ben Bryant who played through not one but two finger dislocations yesterday. Cheers to Edgy for hosting this hot mess. And cheers to all those that drew pleasure from GWs loss. I recognize that I have posted GWs record over the last nine years often. And maybe that is my take away. People don't need to be reminded about things like that. So point taken. Cheers JWar

we should start a long distance heckling club to keep the Johnny come lately's in check.

Some of us may be new "or newer" to the site, but we are not new to high school football. Or football in general.

Reading all the posts you have made - you have told two people to (and I'm paraphrasing) "to clam it and sit down and get some seasoning". Of course I am one of them.

Wouldn't it be better to have the site grow and get bigger and bigger? With that come lots of various opinions that can be debated, dismissed, agreed with, or anything Inbetween?

I get the perception that you think that since you have been posting for 10 years that you have the right to treat newer posters differently than long tenured posters. Some kind of warped cast system?

Jwar - Am I wrong in my perception?

If I am correct in my perception -I might be investing my free time on the wrong board....

My advice as I have had to come to terms with it myself between my two stints here is to just keep up with your good info and well-reasoned football related posts. Just trust that most of Edgy's lurkers, free members, and paying members can discern the trolling and trollers from good HS football discussion.

Voodoo,

Love to see the site grow...especially with paying members like yourself to support Edgy's business(this in my opinion and in no way represents Edgy's attitude regarding paying vs non-paying members). You and the GBW crowd are on two different platforms in my eyes. Those guys were overly boastful for the past two years immediately upon arrival. You and I mixed it up over a philosophical difference on holding everyone accountable for their actions regardless of age. I still feel the way I do, you still feel the way you do, that's fine.

When it comes to football boards Edgy's among(see I can learn Mr. Speach writer) the very best high school boards in the country(note I'm a paying member living in PA with no remaining ties back to Illinois in my family), stay with it and thicken up your skin, it took me a few years to do so. Just so you know I'm a big Murphy fan and think he espouses to the best there is in D203/204. So as I said to the other guys, enjoy the rest of the season...it's far to short!

Agreed - my skin is pretty thick (maybe a little thicker than I want it to be... I should be doing some more cardio;)) ....I just wanted to feel out where you were coming from.

great to hear your thoughts on coach Murphy! Agree with you. I love his "old school" (can I call it that?) philosophy. Great offensive mind...Tough coach - tough love.... Kids will be well prepared for real life (a coach is your first "boss") I am also a big fan!:)

Well you just lost this paying member with you crap about GBW being too boastful, I rarely post but really enjoyed the banter back and forth between a number of the posters. No need to apologize for rooting for your team and making comments about what you believe in as far as you team is concerned. That is what these forums are for. Having just joined the Edgy's forum this year I always enjoy your comments and those of others. Negative comments are a downer about what you or anyone else commented on (unless malicious or singling out players). Keep up sending your thoughts and comments and to hell with the naysayers in this forum.

Hope you reconsider and stick around. There's a lot of football left in the season, and we have to get GW back to its winning ways (hopefully sooner rather than later). Our conduct here has been exemplary, in spite of the recent critique from PA. We've offered a polite "excuse me" to anyone who's taken offense, and it's time to move on. If we were out of line, I think Edgy would have nudged us long ago. We are fans of GW, and we can talk about GW as fan, not in some clinical, politically correct vacuum. So my position is this: let's go about our normal approach to posting here, and if we offend someone, let it be known right away. If you wait for our team to take a loss to jump on us, let's just assume you are not worth the effort of a response, and you deserve to be ignored.

I've had a lot of fun talking to everyone on this site, I've learned a lot from some of you, and thank Edgy for making it available to all of us. To honor him, I'm moving on and returning to the topic of HS football.

Stoned and LCN,

When we boasted we produced as GBW did last year, and I didn't say a word. When they boasted this year and a few folks questioned how GBW could be better this year they went essentially full steam ahead +. When they were checked after the so so week one performance still head long into the wind, but the back breaker was this weeks prediction of a 5 TD victory pushed it over the top. They are entitled to their opinion but it will be checked, just like Naz's always has been.

The irony of a Naz fan chastising GBW fanbase for boastful posts...

No problem with Passion, Confidence, Insight, etc. but if you're gonna dish it out, you gotta be able to take it too. Like you and me, we knock heads all the time, but I actually do respect the fact you deal it right back.
