One Jayhawk`s take on Nutt.

I am not sure what to make of Houston Nutt. I think for me it would be a lot like War of the Worlds when every is clustered around the smoking hole not knowing exactly what is going to come out. I mean it could be really good...or he could vaporize all of us with death rays and be the worst thing since Terry Allen was hired. I mean normally you tell me that KU is hiring a guy who averaged 8 wins a year playing in the SEC I would say sign me up, but every picture of him that I see makes me think he is either about to lead a Baptist Revival or play a major role is some sort of mass killing of a family that had their car break down in rural Mississippi. I am honestly made uncomfortable just looking at his pictures.

Kansas board

A lot of them claim to not want him and seem to think that they deserve better. Someone needs to tell them that they are a basketball school that plays football in the Big12 North. Not exactly a football coaching mecca.

If you're Kansas, looking for a coach... Would you rather go after Houston Nutt or Dan Mullen? I mean obviously Nutt's been a head coach for much longer, and I'm not trying to be a homer, but I would say Mullen did more with what he had this season than Nutt.

Probably cheaper than Mullen and Nutt. Knows the Big 12, has a good coaching tree he's worked under, and has been successful where he currently is.

but the fact of the matter is Nutt has won some SEC West Championships, and he has won at Ole Miss.

Mullen, while I think he did a great job for us last year, still has never even taken a team to a bowl game- yet. How a coach does in a bowl setting would be something that I would want to know if I was about to hire a coach. Even if it's the New Mexico Bowl.

Let me put it this way- Nutt is the safer pick, Mullen is the more risky pick, but also may have more upside.
