I realize this is a delicate issue and I'm not trying to be cruel. I think a big part of the whole problem is Kodi's mental capacity. I honestly don't think he really knows what's going on most of the time. He's being led around by his AAU coach and others and I'm not sure he knows what the 17 is going on. Some of the comments he's made just sound kind of off. Have you noticed during his recent run of playing time, there is always one point in the game where he takes a totally inappropriate 3 which ends up about 6 feet short of the net. He has no concept of the flow of the game. For everyone bashing Stans on this issue, has it ever occurred to you that Kodi just can't follow instructions or understand what's happening. Maybe I'm wrong, but he certainly has the look of "Lights on but nobody's home".

That could apply to our 4 other guards as well.

on this team so that his potential departure would not have the major impact that it likely will have given the current team makeup. For all the criticism of Kodi's lack of play on defense, in our last few games, he was actually one of our better rebounders and has a big enough body that he is not just shoved around in the post like Varnado is at times. To add to the problem, we wiffed on Gallon in the fall and now have no big time big men on the radar for the spring. We will probably find a post player to sign, but at this point I don't have any confidence that they will be SEC caliber. To be honest, if Kodi was a 6-3 guard, I wouldn't think twice about whether he transferred or not.

you have to ask yourself is this guy worth the baggage that is following him around?

Kodi either needs to tell the AAU guys to shut up and continue to play for us, or go ahead and leave.

Which is bigger? Kodi or MSU basketball?

That is the way I would handle it, especially since this AAU coach wants to play attention ***** with the press. The fact that this guy is still associated with Kodi after all this time says a lot about the situation to me and no matter how much we need Kodi, I wouldn't put up with it.

What I would like to know is with all this talk of him possibly going to Rice, just how in the hell does he think he is going to handle the academics at Rice? I think he will find out that being a prima dona basketball player (if he gets in) means absolutely nothing at Rice. Maybe he'll go to Houston, but not RIce.

I getting more and more like Shumley ..... fed up with basketball and its prima donas.

Especially with Stewart. I feel like he really tries to do too much at times. I at least think he knows what he's doing when he does it though.

Take it to the bank. I am 100 percent sure. I cant yet tell you all how I know this, but it is the truth. It will come out soon enough, but Kodi wont be here next year. I know I dont have the number of posts yet that someone would need to be believed in a matter like this, but unless something absolutely crazy and way way out of the blue happens, Kodi will not be here next year.

is it normal or does this happen at most schools? I am not trying to knock Stansbury, I am just asking a simple question. Do most schools deal with players that leave at the end of the season?

It seems like it happens to us every year but I am not a big basketball guy and don't have any clue if this is normal or a problem with the coaching staff.

It happens to alot of SEC schools. I heard a stat earlier this year during an SEC game on ESPN. In the last 6 years, a total of 37 players have transferred out of the SEC. Now granted I think we have about 7 of those, and 8 if you include Kodi transferring here soon, so its not just us, but we have more than our fair share.

From how the guy talks in class about transferring and Stansbury it is a no brainer he won't be here next year. But this was all before he got back into the rotation the last couple weeks of the season. I don't know whether or not he will be here right now but all signs point towards him being out the door. He definitely needs to get past his AAU coach in time if he wants to continue playing college ball.

If he leaves it hurts, there's no doubt. But he's not as good as he and his coach thinks he is. Even with his nice run, he was lost on defense about half the time and his turnovers per minute were very high. The main reason he'll be missed is b/c we're so low on big bodies.

He's like a lot of guys on our team - pretty good athlete with a low level of basketball IQ. I still think he should have played more during the season, but after really watching him a few times I could see the stuff that probably drove Stans crazy. Fault on both sides in my opinion.

another APR hit. I will be shocked if we don't start losing scholarships in the near future because of the revolving door we have in our basketball program.

He's definitely not coming back. He has a moving van over at his apartment and is gonna high tail it out of here once school is done. Im telling you he will NOT be back next year. Time to move on to what we are gonna do next year. The rift between him and Stansbury was too big to be repaired unfortunately.

I don't doubt your story, but you might want to go over there and tell him classes aren't over for about a month and he might want to hold off on moving his stuff just yet. Just sayin.

I sure would like to, but I dont think its happening. I hate that he's leaving, but he could be a great college basketball player with his skill set and alot of people close to him are telling him that he cant become a star here, which is absolutely 100 percent completely correct. He can post up and hit the 3, he has a mid range game, a projectable NBA body, and his defense is improving. Staying here would not help him out. He needs to go somewhere where he can try and turn himself into an NBA prospect, and from the NBA track record of MSU, this is definitely not the place to do that.

Yeah, because being drafted by the NBA has nothing to do with talent and size but rather what coach/university you played under.

BS! If he is all you say he is, he would be drafted reguardless of where he plays.

Wrong. The more high profile school you go to, the more your name gets thrown out there. Jodie Meeks had so much attention given to him this year that it was sick, but Marcus Thorton is better than he is, but Jodie got all the attention because of the school he goes to. If Kodi goes and looks at a school like USC, which recruited him heavily out of high school, then he will get alot of press out there. However, our ESPN contract will give us alot more press now, so that may not make a difference. But if you were going to ask somebody which school is more high profile and has a more recognizable name, do you think it would be MSU or USC? The name of a school, just like when us average joes apply for jobs, can say something about how much people consider you for a job. No different in basketball.

No kidding, that's going to be one nasty Uhaul bill. Hopefully he won't consider it Stansbury's fault that he got the Uhaul truck a month early.

well, he also scored 54 in one game, breaking a 39 year old record at that basketball powerhouse school. just sayin.

I agree USC, Duke, Uconn, etc. get more exposure than State. However, IF Augustus is good enough to be drafted by the NBA, they would find him in Starkville.

All this is a moot point anyway. If he could not start at State because of attitude, physical ability, or a combination of both, he would not start at those places and his attitude and AAU coach would be in their local papers.

Stansbury and MSU is not what is holding Augustus back.

Someone needs to tell Dampier and Dontae Jones that they really weren't drafted. I am sure Jonathan Bender, Travis Outlaw, Montae Ellis, Al Jefferson. They should have transferred to USC to get drafted higher. Someone better tell Curry to transfer before his eligibility is used up. The fact is, the NBA doesn't give a **** where you are from if you have the talent.

And for the record, Al would have signed with MSU had Stans even recruited him. He knew that he was going to the NBA.
