One reason to be optimistic about the upcoming BB season.....

Is that college basketball appears to be really, really down from a talent standpoint. Syracuse loses to a D2 team. I know it's an exhibition, but damn.

Take a look at the projected lottery picks on NBAdraft.net. There's not one single senior and only 2 juniors. John Wall is projected #1. Look at the projected first round. There's guys on there that might not make an NBA team. And then you look at the all-american teams, there have been better All-SEC teams in years past.

We may not have the best team in school history, but other than the Final 4 year, this may be the most talent we've had in relation to the overall landscape of college hoops. Especially with Sidney.

our frontcourt, if we get sidney, is one of the best in the nation talent-wise.

Still, I feel we have an above average back-court at best. I am not saying they are bad by any means, but talent-wise, it is nowhere close to our frontcourt. None of our guards were above 3 stars except Bost. Yes some of them have become very good players and performed far beyond their initial assessments, but we don't have any guards that are NBA bound except maybe Dee after next year if he keeps getting better. You won't see fans of teams like Duke, NC, Kansas, etc saying "man I wish we had MSU's guards".

"None of our guards except Bost were above 3 stars?" "None of our guards are NBA bound except Bost?" We only start 2 guards. Bost, who you obviously like. And Barry who is a senior with tons of experience. I think you missed my point.

I am a Duke fan. Their guards are average, and there is no depth, and now Nolan Smith has been suspended for two games. Carolina and Kansas....you are probably right.

I doubt we will ever see fans of NC or Kansas saying they wish they had our guards. They probably wouldn't have wanted Bullard and Daryl Wilson either compared to who they had.

Kansas appears to be a little more talented than everyone else, but the disparity isn't as great as UNC last year.

So you're saying we have one of the best front courts in the nation, a 4 star point guard that possibly has NBA potential , and shooting guard/ backups that have turned into very good, experienced players after not being huge prospects out of high school?

Sounds pretty good to me.

There are probably not 4 point guards in America that I would take over Bost. I think this will be a major break out year for him. Barry is definitely not an elite guard but he is better than half the two guards in the SEC, especially defensively. Turner is Turner. He would be hard to part with due to his versatility. I think our guards are ideal for the type team that we have.
