One reason why dissolving the divisions may prove to be a problem.

Kentucky and the eleven dwarves rears it's ugly head again. If everybody else continues to beat up on each other the regular season title might be wrapped up by mid February.

doesnt really matter when they win it- and the other top teams are fighting for an NCAA bid- which is the most important thing to the players.

the divisional situation, as well as trying to find a better way to balance the schedules.

Looking at the bright side...this year, the schedule sets up the best that it ever will for us to make a regular season title run in the SEC. The power is still mostly in the east. We play all the former west teams home and away, and then play the east teams once, with Tn, Ky, Ga at home and Vandy, Sc, and Fla on the road. When they truly "balance" in the future, our SOS will get significantly tougher in conference.

And I know at that point we should be playing for tournament seeding, but a competitive conference race is good for the league.

you can play 13 conference vs everyone...add your rivalry home and home series to make 14....and then a rotating 2 or 3 games<div>

It's always been KY and everybody else, the only difference is a 9-7 or 8-8 West team got to hang a "championship" banner. Big deal. That myth that a division winner would never be left out of the NCAAT was already blown up. With 1 thru 12, the seeding for the SECT will be more fair. Also, if you finish .500 in the conference you are judged as a middle of the pack team and not a weak division winner. Hell look what UConn did last year. The SEC needs to worry themselves with improving the league as a whole and not worry about how weak one division is.
