..they need to talk to whoever in Jackson just put on the tournament my 14 year old nephew played in. They'd knock this **** out in a Friday-Sunday tournament and the losers of the first round would be chillin' at home by Saturday afternoon.

A game a week.... sheesh...

that Colin Cowherd loves soccer - that really makes no sense.

See Brazil, England, Germany.

it does create a lot of money for the host country, so why not? Also, it givesus soccer fans a full month ofwatching the best sport in the world at the top level.

I remember when I was like 12 or 13, I played in an indoor league and the Nike Invitational tournament came to the Sports Club by NEJSO.We played 6 games in less than 48 hours. The championship game was at like 2 a.m. It was absolutely brutal.

It's kind of a little bit more physically demanding than 8-year old youth soccer. The final four teams will wind up playing 7 games in a month. That's about as short of a time frame as you need to squeeze those games into.

but the pro league in the US is still awful and its fanbase is rivaled by the WNBA....And you can still go to any HS soccer activity and personally speak to every fan there within 60 seconds

Because you couldn't be more wrong. This reminds though to take everything you say about sports and put it thru the "academy league" prismand you make a lot more sense.

leading into the World Cup.Nobody would argue that that means it has more interest than the NBA though. NHL though, MLS is closing in on.

I don't know what people expect. It's like they want MLS to go from being a crap league to the best in the world ina fewyears. It's a long road and they are careful since its predecessor, the NASL, failed. The cities they've been adding have been bringing a lot of fans. Seattle's like 30k every game. They're up there with European clubs and I'd assume that that's a city that wasn't giving the Sonics the most support, though I could be wrong not knowing the NBA.

averages between 6-7K. They must sell their suites and corporate seats as a package that cover both the NBA and WNBA seasons.

How many people can fit into a normal sized NBA arena vs. a normal sized MLS stadium? I dont know because I dont watch soccer, but I would have to think that MLS capacity is much more than NBA. 108,000+ went to watch the NBA All-Star game this year because they were able to get in. Looking at stadium attendance may not be telling the whole story if soccer's average attendance is 16K but can hold 90K.

and I imagine NHL too. Plenty I'm sure are selling out every game (maybe not NHL, i don't know). What their attendance could be is anyone's guess. However, I don't see why it matters if MLS teams are playing in 30,000 seat stadiums or 80,000 unless some of their attendance is restricted by sellouts as well. That may be the case for a few clubs but I wouldn't think it'd be common. Several of them play in NFL stadiums, but more and more have their own soccer-specific stadiums.<div>
</div><div>The MLS All-Stars are playing Man U in the Texans 70,000 seat stadium so it could be interesting to see if they can fill that, especially since several of the European club friendlies played in the US have sold out.</div>

You really have no desire to only comment on topics where you arent ignorant.

I could see you hosting a drive time talk show. Be it sports or politics, or a mix of both...wouldnt matter. You are clearly more than willing to form opinions on things that you are only mildly informed on.
Yes, you would be perfect as a local drive time talk show host. You could get those phone lines jam packed with people that want to call you ignorant for spouting off on crap you know nothing about.

You can bet that if NBA teams could draw much better than their current capacity, they'd be playing in much larger coliseums. But for the record, most MLS teams play in soccer specific stadiums that hold about 20-25 thousand. A few play in baseball or football stadiums that hold much more though. </p>

by more people than have ever watched a Super Bowl, there's a lot of reasons ($$$$$$$) why they don't want to have games going on simultaniously. The one exception is the 3rd games of the group stage, where the two games in each group are played simultaniously to avoid any chance of collusion (back in the early 80s West Germany and Austria knew that they'd both advance if they tied, but if one won and the other lost, the loser wouldn't advance, so they intentionally played to a draw).

...one of the my rules to life is, "The Greatness of America is Inversely Proportional to the Popularity of Soccer in this Country". In the 1970's, Pele' and Franz Beckenbauer made NASL soccer hugely popular, with jampacked stadiums in the US....along with double-digit unemployment and inflation.

In the 1980's, the NASL folded, while we bitchslapped the Soviet Union out of existence, and began a 25 year run of prosperity.

Now, soccer is highly popular again, and there's double-digit unemployment and the housing bubble has burst.
