One thing that really hurts us this season in basketball

Ole Miss is making a run at being elite in the SEC. The position switch is complete. I wonder whether those who couldn't wait to blow up the program factored in the possibility of OM improving. In baseball, we used to be the team that mattered in Mississippi. In basketball, we used to be the team that mattered in Mississippi.
Damn . . .

It has taken Kennedy like 7 years to be in this position. The loss of Nick Williams and Aaron Jones will be big and their lack of depth in the post could be an issue going forward. It will be interesting to see how they go forward after Florida pops them in the mouth Saturday. Their lack of defense and streaky free throw shooting will hurt them in tourney time. They can score though.

Oh my holy damn our fans are idiots.....

We will regain the top spot in MS basketball within 2 years. We already have in baseball. And they were both our own doing. Ole Miss is nowhere near elite in basketball. They had their chance to prove something vs. UK on ESPN the other night and completely failed. They aren't ready. They'll make the tournament due to the weak SEC (maybe), but they aren't going anywhere. They can't even raise the money for a new arena.

Ole Miss may have the football advantage, but we definitely have the other two. Football is really the only sport where success and failure of either school is somewhat based on the other. They can both compete for championships in basketball and baseball.

OM will be back at the bottom next year. They lose both Big men and Marshall Henderson will be kicked off the team for drugs..

Hate to admit it ...

But I got to agree with Goat on this one.

Where to begin? In the last 14 years, State has NEVER lost two games in the same year to OM and dominated them to the tune of 21-8 (72%). During Stans HC time we had streaks of 7 and 6 in a row. We only lost ONE home game to them in 14 years.

In the AK era, they have NEVER been to the NCAAT and they remain the ONLY pre 2012, SEC team to NEVER EVER win the SEC. They have been ranked ~3 times that I have know of and had subsequent historical 'flame-outs' to not make the NCAAT. If you look up 'bubble team' on wikipedia ... there is a photo of AK and the bears..

Until they actually 'win' a few games against us, I wouldn't lose much sleep over their 'elite' status.

OM was going to have this team this season whether Stands stayed or not...your point is well, dumb

And actually, it was best for Stands to get out before Kennedy bested him. It would have sucked to go out losing his last couple to Kennedy

You serious? Our biggest problem is the injuries. With a true PG and healthy players, we would be doing much better than we have. Several close games could have possibly gone our way.

And they are doing so in the weakest SEC in my lifetime with a senior laden team and a talented but troubled transfer. AK is still the same coach he's always been. Henderson is a great scorer but who the Hell knows if he blows a gasket during the season. 2 injuries will hurt them. And next year they will be right back where they've always been. No Buckner no Holloway.

What? Ole Miss is a decent team in a terrible league (overall). What is your point with baseball? Cohen has taken us back to being the best team in baseball in the state. Bianco has peaked...whatever he was going to do, he has done.

Well I was with you until the football part...

how in the heck does OM have the football advantage? Because they finished 6-6 to our 8-4 this year? Because they are having a good recruiting year although their class last year stunk whereas we had a good class last year and will follow up with another good class this year? Yes, I give Freeze credit for getting the OM program off the matt pretty quickly with the mess he was left by Nutt but I sure as heck don't see them with an advantage at all on us. Aren't we the ones with a brand new football facility opening up and a stadium expansion in progress? Yep, you definitely lost me with that statement.
