This could be Bolen and Luczak's break out game. There should not be any complaining about minutes tommorrow. On a serious note, I hope Osby uses this opportunity to go off a bit and take Kodi's spot in the starting line up.

from what I've seen. I think Osby is more Branden Vincent than anything.

Osby is a big 3, whereas Vincent was a 4. Kodi, despite what he and others may think, is really a 4, too. Can he play a little bit of 3? Yes. But that is not his real position. Not quite good enough of a ball handler and definitely cannot guard many 3s on the defensive end.

He has good ball handling skills, a good shot, good leaping ability. Willing to attack the basket. Works hard on defense. He will play a big, big role this year and in the next couple years after that.

Romero Osby went to Northeast Lauderdale.
BTW, other than Renardo Sidney, he's easily the most highly recruited player we've had in the last 4-5 years. Kansas wanted him. That should tell you something.

/What have I defended from Meridian other than Tyler Russell?

he puts his head down, dribbles to the middle, and gets caught in no man's land....or at least that's what he did last year.

I love Osby, but he simply didn't show the offensive game or athletic ability to be a 3 last year.

He'd be a great 4. Handles the ball better than most 4s. Can draw you out b/c he is a 3 point threat. And he absolutely gets after it down low.

Maybe he's a lot better this year. If he can play 3, that would be great.

A lot more aggressive. Shooting the ball more. Huge dunk on an alley oop on the fast break.
Osby is one of the guys who has definitely progressed. Kodi has, too. He's in a ton better shape. Dee's shot looks better (decision making last Friday, not so much, though). Even Ravern, still skinny as a bean pole, looks a little stronger. Last year is not a good measuring stick for most of these guys. Especially the sophomores/junior(Ravern).

As to your question, I have no idea what else you have said about Meridian. I don't pay that much attention, just enough to know that anytime Russell's name is mentioned you come to the rescue. Now Osby....

I just assumed that you are from Meridian and have some kind of hometown interest.

But I really don't care much about how they do or whatever. I went to Meridian High.

Now on Russell, I've really tried to stay away from those discussions as of late. I know him and played with him so I'm obviously gonna be biased.

Osby went 5 of 5 from the three point line in one of the scrimmages. I don't recall Vincent having much of an outside shot or being able to leap like Osby.

as I noted below. But like I said, I haven't seen the skill set from him that makes me think he can be that special Big 3 man. Kodi is much more adept at putting it on the floor and getting to the rim from what I've seen.

I hope Im wrong and Osby develops that type of game.

During the scrimmages I saw, Osby looked like the best player on the floor by far. For whatever reason, that confidence has not translated into the games yet. Tommorrow may be his big chance. His attitude is certainly light years better than Kodi's.

very true and a factor that shouldn't be disregarded.

Now that Stans can't yank him out for mistakes I think that he will play a lot better. It's tough to play a game when you know if you make one mistake you will be back on the pine. This Kodi suspension might be the best thing to happen this year for Osby and our team chemistry.

Tyler Russell is going to be fantastic, and though he may look slow, he is certainly fast enough to play in Stans offense.

He doesn't have sec skills on offense, but Marcus Green was a beast on the boards in high school , he could give fill in minutes. He could jump out of the gym.

He can go up and get it over just about anybody. A friend of mine has played with and thrown alley oops to him in Sanderson and he said it is a thing of beauty.
