The national championship game. SMDH at this schedule.

Solution...
Pick a city and a weekend each year. Then host all the college championships on that weekend.
D3 Championship - Thursday night
NAIA - Friday night.
D2 - Saturday morning
FCS - Saturday night
FBS - Sunday night
Every player gets tix to every game.
Make it a showcase for college athletes.

Also, since we're now paying college players like pros, you'd think the playoff games would mirror the pro games. At least the pro games are exciting (and the schedule makes sense).

This makes too much sense for them at least try this. Fans could also enjoy this if you could get a ticket.

Those would be terrible environments for those other championship games. Smaller venues are perfect for them. Sitting in a half-empty 80,000 seat stadium sucks. Doesn’t matter how much that game means being played. And make no mistake, the only one that is selling out is that big one. Another issue to mention is the wear and tear of the turf, if natural grass, for that many games in that many days. You’d want the field to be pristine for the National Title game.

And Sunday is not going to happen. College Football is king in the South, but make no mistake…the NFL rules football. No way College Football wants to compete against the NFL for eyeballs. And the NFL isn’t moving their games. No way. You ever wonder why there is a Sunday game in the first week but never again? That’s why. And speaking of mirroring the pros, the NFL takes 2 weeks beetween conference Championship games and the Super Bowl. That’s 14 days as opposed to the 10 or so you’re talking about. College Football should play on Saturdays like they do all season. But they want to preserve these New Years Day bowl games and use them to preserve those traditions. Not to mention working around a holiday schedule.

Oh, and could you imagine the price for hotels with that many fan bases descending on one city for that long weekend? The lines for restaurants and entertainment? It would be awful. Terrible for the fans that spent a ton of $$ to travel for the game. A logistical nightmare!

It’s only 10 days between games. Not that big of a deal. It’s good for them to have time to heal and plan for the game. Just enjoy it. Wish they’d change the calendar, sure…but having playoff football is a good thing. Need to get rid of the byes, and figure out a way to get the best teams…but still great to have it. Much better than the pre-BCS era where there was rarely a game to decide the championship.

Let these other divisions and subdivisions have their own thing. Why have them play 2nd fiddle to the real big game in town?
