Should Olympic sports (tennis, volleyball, track, etc) receive full scholarships?

if baseball doesnt than those bastards shouldnt...Baseball is the 2nd leading money maker for the NCAA after basketball. It is complete ******** for no baseball player to have a full scholarship yet there are 17 for F'n girls volleyball and rowing and such.

They are allotted X number of scholarships according to how many male/female student athletes are at each school

Example:

Mens track here at MSU has 11.5 scholarships to give out. That dosen't mean only 11.5 guys on the team are on scholarship. They can break those up and give them out at thier discretion. Some guys may be on a full ride while others could be on 50% 25% or even 10% or 5% scholarship. You just have 11.5 scholarships to give out. It is up to the coaches how they break them up.

I think they do get back in provided they finally grow a pair and start testing. Or, if they have to, go back to amateurs only. Then softball, which the Olympics basically considers 'girl baseball' will get back in as well. The USOC and the Federal government should be all over the funding of this. For one, it it going to expand the talent pool that the USOC has to pick it's athletes. Two, more kids will be able to go to college. I'll leave out the politics of what can be cut to fund it all, but it's entirely possible.

Football can continue to operate by itself and fund itself. It's a billion dollar industry now, so I think they'll make it. Plus, it will mean football won't have to fund the other sports anymore, so they actually come out better.

I like the idea of full scholarships for marathoners, triathletes, cyclists, boxers, divers, swimmers, table tennis, water polo, etc. Basically turn it into one enormous Olympic Development program with the side benefit of a free education.

from someone's dad who plays tennis at Alabama that their guys team gets 4 and the girls get 8. He didn't say how much the scholarships were, but I doubt they were full, especially the 8 girls scholarships.

I actually think that the worst thing about Title IX is it discriminates against men. I think baseball should have 25 full scholarships and that the scholarships should be based off of the size of the teams, and the revenue that they produce.

you know it isn't fair to base the number of scholarships off of the amount of money generated. that would be using WAY too much logic and common sense while at the same time showing a lack of concern for the feelings of the student athletes who want badly to be able to be a part of the spotlight. that much logic makes us look like robots instead of human beings. instead it is much better to give full scholarships to them and allow them to see that very few people have come to watch them perform.

But I wish they would drop the number of scholarships from 85 (??) to 80 and give those 5 to baseball. I mean is 85 REALLY necessary? There are some worthless players on scholly at a lot of schools...especially State.

I think football should have about 60. That should be plenty to have at least a two deep squad.
