On Tuesdays and Thursdays, it's the Veranda for the boneless fried chicken.

Other than that, I'll go 1) Cappe's 1A) Starkville Cafe 2) Restaurant Tyler

On non-Tue/Thur days, I picked Cappe's just ahead of the Cafe because dessert is included at Cappe's and if you're a student you get a dollar off. Probably the most amazing deal ever.

But the last two times I've been the chicken breasts have been huge.

I have had Restaurant Tyler's boneless chicken breast as well, and while good, I didn't think it was as good as a (normal sized) Veranda product.

ETA: Now Restaurant Tyler's cheese grits and sweet potatoes fries, those are AMAZING. And the gravy and cheese smothered hamburger steak is usually my choice there.

And surprisingly, Trustmark cafeteria is also usually pretty good.

Starkville Cafe (especially Thurs... brisket is awesome), Veranda for boneless fried chicken, and Cappe's for pretty much everything else.

Veranda: $8 gets you meat, three sides, biscuit/cornbread, drink, includes tax
Cappe's: $8 gets you meat, two sides, roll/cornbread, dessert, drink, inclues tax, dollar off for students
Restaurant Tyler: $8 gets you meat, two sides, cornbread, includes tax but not drink
Starkville Cafe: Someone help me out here. It's either $5.50 or $6.50 for meat, two sides, bread, drink, includes tax
Brian Michael's Meat Market: I think it's $6, could be wrong. Gets you meat, two sides, bread, drink.
Grumpy's: $6 I think, may be wrong there. Don't remember details.

Somebody else fill in the gaps of places I have forgotten/ gotten details wrong.

tried Blueplate for the first time last week and went back again the next day. If you go right at lunch time, you generally have to wait for a table but the food comes out fast once you sit down and order. They also have a counter at which you can probably walk right in and sit. They have catfish on Fridays, which is quite good.

If you go, be sure and order the hashbrown casserole.

Not the best in Starkville — that goes to the Veranda — but when I'm by myself I like to go to Cock of the Walk Express in Fast Break.<div>
</div><div>Something like six bucks gets you three HUGE chicken tenders that are great (or whatever meat they have on the day you go) and two sides and a drink. They have a broccoli/cheese mixture that looks disgusting but is pretty good.</div>

Nothing else comes close. I will put their brisket they serve on Wednesdays up against against any other place out there. Guy Fieri stopped by there a few weeks back for his Diners, Drive-ins and Dives show. Not sure if he was there on Wednesday or not though. He should have been if he wasn't.
