****Soccer Stuff*****
Since soccer's not going to get enough love on this board I'm gonna throw a name - Alex Ferguson. He deserves a honorable mention, though I hate the ba$tard and his team, Man Utd.

It's SIR Alex Ferguson!

I'll go with Phil Jackson and I don't think it's close. UCONN's women's coach? That's funny. The talent disparity is ridiculous in women's sports. UCONN get's the top women's recruits and no one can compete with that. Yeah they slip up to Stanford every now and then but when you only got 20 really good women's recruits each year and UCONN gets 4 of them and the others are spread out to 12-15 differ teams, the other programs just don't have near the athletes to compete with UCONN.

I think he's a great coach, but I wouldn't crown the UCONN women's head coach as best coach since 1990 due to the fact he faces competition that's astronomically lower than that of men's coaches like Phil Jackson.

I have no idea what the payrolls have been, I'm sure high but that's irrelevant. You still have to coach those guys. Doc Rivers handled KG, Allen, and Peirce perfectly. Phil has handled Shaq, Kobe, Gasol, Jordan, Pippen, Rodman...you have to have the respect from the players. I think Spolstra down in MIA might have some respect but he's so young, I dunno if they really listen to him. Look at our basketball team now, we have a **** load of talent and we're underachieving just like last year bc Stans doesn't have the respect from the players. I think Bost respects Stans alot more after he got back. Him and Stans body language is good (fist pounds in huddle, arms around eachother walking off the court, ect.) I think Augustus has grown up too and respected his coach this year. But Ravern obviously doesn't and Sidney is so-so. He told me one time he thinks Stans is an "alright" coach. Bottom line, you can have all the talent in the world, but you must have respect from the players to be successful. Look at Phil Jackson, Doc Rivers, Mark D'Antoni(never won any championships but he's had some great teams and gotten to conference finals plenty of times). Guys like that are successful because of respect among the players..not necessarily talent level.

Joe Torre brought back the Yankees dynasty in the late 1990's, while Terry Francona brought back something to Boston they haven't had since Babe Ruth pitched for them- World Championships.
