OOC schedule is not what kept us out...

There were four games we had control of in the second half - Richmond; Western KY; Ark on road; KY at home. Should have won all four. Had we done so, OOC schedule would not have mattered. We would have been alright if we had only won two of them as long as one of the two was Richmond or UK. So I'm not buying the "schedule cost us" argument. Not enough wins cost us.

with our schedule, you are going to admit 25 to 27 wins would have been the magic number to get us dancing this year? That's too many and actually shows why OOC is important.

We won plenty of games to get in this year. We just won against ****** competition. It matters.

And I do hope he'll upgrade future schedules. All I'm saying is that for this season, even w/a weak OOC schedule, if we had won 2-4 games that we had control of late, we woud be in.
I agree that a tougher OOC schedule gives you more margin for error, etc. but we shouldn't have needed that margin THIS season. Score one basket in the last two minutes vs. Richmond and one point in the last three vs. UK and we're in.

The NCAA committee members have said time and time again that non-conference schedule strength is very important. This is the 2nd or 3rd time under Stansbury we have been left out because of our non-conference schedule. The message has been sent. It has been clearly spelled out. Hopefully we finally get the message.

If you have a bad OOC schedule then you can not lose to ****** teams, we did so we are not in the NCAA. If you play a tougher OOC schedule then it is okay to lose a few games, play bad teams then you have to win them all.

so at the end of the season they look at teams based on wins/losses, RPI, good wins, bad losses, and OOC strength of schedule. so saying the SOS doesn't matter this season is erroneous. it clearly mattered. hell i could just say that if we had won all of our games this season it wouldn't matter who we scheduled in OOC because we would be #1 in the country.

I agree, I dont think these a way a soft OOC schedule helps you out on Selection Sunday. Even if you play 12 games and win all 12, everyone is gonna say "You didn't beat anyone".

Look at California. They played the toughest OOC schedule in the country, and got beat by everyone. They went 1-6 against the RPI top 50, but got in because of "who they played" not who they beat.

Bottom line is, when it comes to OOC games (say 12 of them) it's better to go 7-5 (2-4 against the RPI top 50) than it is to go 11-1 (1-1 against RPI top 50).. That was the message I got yesterday from the committee.
