We have been lied to again. Again, we are not prepared as we were told we were.
People are dying by the seconds.

We were told that 20 mil would be vaccinated by the end of the year.
Less than 3 mil actually given the vac.
Too many given vac that were not head of the line people.

I would much rather sing the praise of WARP speed than this post if it was possible.

US has vaccinated more people than any other country by 2.5x. 4th in per capita vax.

Some are having trouble because the first in line don’t want it - certain healthcare and long term care EEs. Up to 60% of Ohio LTC employees are turning it down.

The states set their order/phases - so if vax are going to the wrong people, sounds like cities/states need to tighten up.

It is not a race to do more than any other country. It is important to do what the leaders say they will do.

Am afraid that certain "elements" have hyper polarized the process for partisan reasons to such an extent, that many are declining or are uninterested in the vaccine.

In my world our local hospital is only offering it, and not making it mandatory (yet). However, a term for employment is getting the Flu vaccine each Fall. Huh? Really?

I've taken it (without side effects), and will have the rest of my family take it when available...

Over 11M doses had been distributed to states as of a few days ago and the states had only administered 20-30% of it. The feds maybe overestimated the amount available since the approval came later than they once believed. They overestimated the competency of states and states like overestimated the demand from certain populations.

KY has administered 28% of its allocation. 34,400/120,900

South Dakota and West Virginia lead the nation in vax administered per 100k population. If other states could pace that, we’d have near 8M completed - would put the US 7M ahead of the next highest country and move us up to 3rd per capita behind Israel and Bahrain.

Unfortunately, most states can’t keep up. KY is average in doses administered at 25th in the country, yet still about 2x lower the rate per capita than IN and TN. Hopefully bad reporting is the issue and not slow and unprepared states

What response would you like? Yes, Trump is the Devil. He created the virus in a lab and unleashed it on the American people Lex Luther style. Is that the response you were hoping for? But take heart. You will be able to leave your basement when Sleepy Joe steps in to save the day.
I won’t take a “Trump Vaccine”!...but if I were, it’s going way too slow! He ruins everything he touches!...but he needs to be more hands on! Trumps lying, there’s no way a vaccine will be ready by the end of the year....Operation Warp Speed is a failure bc 20M vaccinations will not be completed by year end!

Fauci: I’ve been lying about everything, just to protect you...you couldn’t handle the truth.

Crowd: God Bless Fauci - American hero and I’ll do whatever he says...when he says it’s ok, I’ll be ok!

I watch the sun rise everyday from my seat in front of my key board.
I face south and the sun is just to my left at this time of the year.

You literally can’t please Libs. Tiring argument.

Can’t wait to get my vaccine. Unfortunately, my Governor is more likely to screw it up than succeed.
You had a chance recently...Walgreens on lime kiln had some freshies for some random lucky shoppers the other day.

Sigh, journos have been so mad, they're just inventing things to be mad about. For starters we were told forever we weren't even going to get a vaccine this year. 2. We outpace every country in the world except Israel and maybe the UK. Pop quiz: which would be easier to distribute in...one of the largest countries on earth...or 2 that are the size of new jersey? Think on it and let me know.

Meh. We all know production and vaccinations will ramp up. And the next president will take credit, as all presidents do. And his supporters will crow, as all supporters do. But as always, as with every president and their supporters, it will all be partisan, insincere, performative ********.

Does the OP know that some governments and agencies are debating giving it to healthy non-white people to balance out some sort of racial disparity instead of those who are the most at-risk? Does that sound like successful thinking if you want to stop people from dying?

As was said earlier in this thread, it is the politicization of this virus that is the scandal.

Would have been more supply for the US had Trump not decided to decline earlier to buy vaccines from one of the two current providers., so they shifted focus towards getting commitments from other countries.

Can you tell us why Kentucky has been so slow at administration of the vaccinations that they have available? What’s taking them so long?

I’ll take up for Andy in that he at least has LTC facilities and employees in the first group of vax. I’ve seen the city of Chicago has them in round 2. PA has only vax 3500 over the age of 65, but 54,000 under 65.

from what I understand we haven’t had any LTC residents vaccinated here yet.

local health departments in Ky actually had doses but didn’t have direction from
Andy on who to give them to and have thousands of doses just sitting around because
He won’t allow them to broaden the pool of those who can get vaccines and won’t let them take them to LTC facilities. CVS and walgreems
Are administering those, except they still don’t have their doses from
The state.

West Virginia has kicked our *** At dealing with the pandemic and they’re doing it again.

WV is killing it. But I have an uncle in LTC in Louisville, and he got the first dose of Moderna the Monday it arrived (on Sunday).

We only added 5500 vax administered to the count today, so the rollout for AB still seems to suck...but I’m at least grateful it seems to be targeting the correct ppl. Our LTC and congregate living is 70+% of all our Covid deaths.

I know for a fact nursing homes have been giving the first doses for a while. To residents and staff.
