I'm guessing every defensive coordinator watching that game pooped a little watching that option look. It would be great for 3-4 critical 3rd down conversions a game if he uses it a bit.

Leach always does a few trick plays, I remember one where the wide receiver snaps the ball. Is the speed option a trick play or permeant wrinkle would be my question. The latter I hope.

That would be nice. I would like to see more wrinkles all the time to become a part of the regular offense. It makes the offense harder to defend

I don’t think any DCs are losing sleep over the possibility of Rogers running a couple of option plays. He’s not Fitz. And he’s not going to outrun any SEC lb or safety.

Good observation on option. I liked the future potential for that play.
A concept that I’d like to see on 3rd and long is send 3 guys verticle and deep, throw high and short to the single coverage and either catch on back shoulder, draw the Pass interference with receiver coming back to ball, incomplete, or interception same as punt.
The back shoulder pass interference is the easiest (cheapest) yardage in football today.

Im sure they felt like Vandy would be a good soft team to try it out against. He got about 12 easy yards on it. Gives Kentucky 2 more things to prep for.

To put it on film. Get more defensive players commit to run takes away a defender in the back 7. Could force them out of a zone look and put them in man. If they they won't have enough players to commit to the run so the option would work each time
