was Auburn's defensive line, mainly Fairly. He took Oregon's offense completely out of what they usually do.

What you saw tonight was partially the result of Auburn having five weeks to prepare for Oregon's offense. You don't have that luxury during the course of the regular season. Not saying they would have averaged 50 point, but it would have been nothing like what you saw tonight.

It was around 24. Oregon scored 48 on Tennessee. The way they run their offense is very difficult to scheme against with only one week to prepare.

Tennessee has probably one of the youngest teams in the league. Especially on defense. Their defense also had won, then lost the game against LSU. They're too inexperienced for me to say that they're just like Auburn on defense.

Tennessee was young and then lost 2 more starting DL guys the first week of practice. Tenn would have played them much better later on

Auburn established they were the best team in the country after they finished the SEC title game going undefeated. Would have given credit to Oregon tonight had they won, but the fact would have remained Auburn's strength of schedule vs. Oregon is a better indication of who's the better team. Tonight was just one game in a 14 game season.

I am sure Tennessee improved during the year. They did play Oregon early on.

But my point with C34 is simple: it should be obvious that it is better to have five weeks to prepare for Oregon's offense than just one. During the regular season it is very difficult to prepare your defense to handle what they throw at you.

not when SEC defensive lines are *****-slapping their OL like Aubarn's did tonight. That had nothing to do with 5 weeks of prep

Being in position to make a play is not just about talent. And you should know that. No, let me correct myself. You do know that. But you will not admit it. I am not going to get in a long argument with you over this.

I'm not saying the extra time didnt help- but Oregon didnt face anything this season like they would have had they played in the SEC West this season. Their OL would have been *****-slapped a few times. When you have teams spread out like they do, and 4 DL guys are hammering your 5 OL guys, not much you can do.

Why is that an advantage for only one team? What has Oregon been doing for the last 4 weeks, while Auburn prepared for them and got better? I don't get it.

would have worn Oregon down too much to continue their great run that they had in the PAC-10. SEC is too physical on both sides of the ball for Oregon's team to run the gauntlet

...probably don't play in more than 10 games if they have to play those SEC defenses back-to-back-to-back. Is Oregon hard to game plan for? But it's also hard to keep your players on the field, especially the under-sized ones, when you have to play three or four good defenses in a row.

It was unlike any offense most defenses faced. When you run up against standard offenses week after week and then come up against them you aren't prepared. The advantage Auburn had was the extra four weeks of preparation.

Auburn played better defensively than they have all year. That's due to preparation and talent. Hell, we scored 12 more points against them than Oregon did. Let that sink in. If Oregon had played them the same week we did they would have reached their average.

a matter of being bigger, stronger, faster, and more physical. And that was an average SEC defense. No way in hell Oregon goes better than 5-3 if they're in the SEC West.
