FIU was also throttled by powerful Delaware.Considering we struggled to score points in the first half against Villanova who just got throttled by the powerhouse Monmouth this past weekend doesn't give me a warm and fuzzy that the offense will be able to score enough points to win the game against a ranked team.
The refs will call bullshiite calls against PSU like they did in the B1G Championship game last year that will kill drives.
Overall the consistent sloppy undisciplined play we have seen from PSU over the course of the last 3 games. Hoping it gets cleaned up over the bye week but.....
Say FIU and my hens in the same sentence one more damm timeFIU was also throttled by powerful Delaware.
Its not like Oregon played anyone of note either (better than Nevada/FIU/Villanova - but not at any level of talent to be revealing).I hate to say it, but I think we have a very small chance to win this game, simply based on both team's performances to this point. I'm especially disappointed with Allar's play. Certainly after all the positive media hype during the off season. Singleton hasn't impressed either. I think we lose by being outplayed in most aspects of the game by a better team.
10-2 gets PSU into the post-season - 99.99% chance. We don’t know much about either team right now. That’s what makes this fun.
PSU and Franklin need this win. Bad. It’s a night white-out environment and a loss cements the narrative about this program in big games. PSU has everything lined up in this game: coming off a bye, an easy preceding schedule, home field at night.
Lose and the CFB Playoff is likely off the table, IMO. It’s an extreme long-shot that they go to OSU and win. And Indiana would be their only remaining opponent of note.
That’s a fair take. A lot depends on Indiana. 10-2 with a win over a top-10 Indiana team would probably be enough.10-2 gets PSU into the post-season - 99.99% chance.
It will take 3 loses to get them out.
PSU's "risk", if they lose to Oregon (I think PSU should be well over 50% chance to beat Oregon, FWIW) is if they lose TWO more - likely Ohio State and someone else. That someone else? Not much else left on the schedule - but I do think IU has shown they just may be for real... so that one is maybe the tipping point game.
If they lose any of the others, it would be a level of fail that would leave no one thinking they should be post-season bound.
It is highly likely to be "4", IMOThat’s a fair take. A lot depends on Indiana. 10-2 with a win over a top-10 Indiana team would probably be enough.
If Indiana falls apart, then 10-2 without beating a good team will be a major problem, IMO. The sports media is already driving the narrative that PSU’s OOC schedule is embarrassing. And they’re right.
We also have to wonder how many B1G teams make the playoff this year. OSU, Oregon, PSU, Michigan, Indiana and Illinois all have a legit shot. I think only 4 of those 6 get in.
Ya okayAnyone, i mean anyone who watched the three PSU and the 4 Duck games has to pick the Ducks by 20+
We have one of the worst fan bases in the country15 looks off. Is he hurt?
Penn State is a lock at 10-2...even if Indiana is 7-5.That’s a fair take. A lot depends on Indiana. 10-2 with a win over a top-10 Indiana team would probably be enough.

Because they beat OK State and Oregon State? Yikes. If you watched them against NW you'd have doubtAnyone, i mean anyone who watched the three PSU and the 4 Duck games has to pick the Ducks by 20+
Correct. Penn State will win a close game. Oregon will have the same problems Ohio State had when they went to Oregon last year.We don't.
Add to this (I know it's a different year) their performance against Ohio State in last year's playoff game. They're certainly beatable, particularly if the officiating is on the level this year. Keep the faith, guys.Because they beat OK State and Oregon State? Yikes. If you watched them against NW you'd have doubt
USC doesn't play Oregon for, like, 9 more weeks ... so why are we talking about it now?15 looks off. Is he hurt?
I think the people saying PSU needs to run the ball sucessfully to win are correct. PSU is a 3.5 favorite from what I've seen. I'm looking forward to seeing how my Ducks do in a night white out game. It looks like a great environment and home advantage.Because Oregon is absolutely loaded with 5* and high 4* players. It's pretty much the best roster money can buy.
Start with 5* QB and two 5* WRs
A lot of people think our best chance is to control the LOS with our run game bit I think we need a balanced attack. Oregon's secondary is all very high 4* top 100 talent but they're young with 3 freshmen and 1 junior.
CB:
Obidegwu 4*, 96, 55th overall
Finney 4*, 96, 47th overall
S:
Thieneman 4*, 95, 11th overall in portal
Flowers 4*, 95, 102nd overall
The cross-country trip isn't talked about enough, IMO. That's a significant factor. This is one game where a noon start might be a bigger advantage to PSU with Oregon being used to Pacific time.Correct. Penn State will win a close game. Oregon will have the same problems Ohio State had when they went to Oregon last year.
1. An insane noise level which will interfere with communications.
2. A long trip to PA. The time change will mess with energy level, sleep etc.
Absolutely. The media narrative around Penn State is that they're loaded with all these returning starters and compare favorably with OSU last year and Michigan the year prior. Both won the national title. For some reason I think Oregon is looking forward to being part of the White Out and that they will thrive in the environment. To me, with all the national attention on PSU this year, this is the biggest game to date in Franklin's coaching career at PSU.
Where’d your kids go to college?W
We have one of the worst fan bases in the country
So then I guess you took the second and third mortgages out of your crib and put it all down on the Ducks.Anyone, i mean anyone who watched the three PSU and the 4 Duck games has to pick the Ducks by 20+
FIFYThe national narrative about Franklin is that "he can't win the big game." That's false. He's won big games (including but not limited to two playoff games last year). We recruit well under Franklin. What Franklin's PSU teams have traditionally struggled with is beating teams who have 1) recruited more talent and 2) are not flailing with that talent. Now, most teams do consistently struggle against that. However, the issue is that we all know upsets happen. Theoretically, PSU recruits at a high enough level that they should be able to sometimes be that team who upsets the more talented team. Michigan won a national championship bydoingexactlythisCHEATING. And so many of those types of games are close with PSU even leading at some point, and yet they are consistent with coming up short at the end. We're waiting for another signature win against an opponent who possesses more talent, not a "big game." I hope that comes this Saturday night.
But, if we lose, then it'll be yet again another loss in which we cannot overcome the recruited talent disparity.
