Just because you would personally be embarrassed to do what a 20 year old college student did and then put it on youtube doesn't make it bad. But there is nothing at all wrong with it. There are lots of good things about this video.
1. Attempting to get students fired up about the university. I guess some of the complainers think it would be much better to have class after class of apathetic students. That would be awesome.
2. Attempting to challenge students to find their niche and make an impact on the university. Again, I guess apathy is better and leadership sucks.
3. Taking students inside the M-Club building to let them see a place they likely had never seen before and might not go in again.
4. Having a team of orientation leaders involving a larger group of freshmen, who were largely attentive to the story and somewhat participatory in the end.
Dorky? Sanity? Embarrassment? Tool? That's ridiculous. Do you think that's all they do at orientation? I bet not. Would you prefer orientation be line after line of boring speakers pontificating on stimulating subjects like financial aid, parking and meal plans? If so, you have no clue how to reach today's freshmen.
Kenzaki would kick his butt? While this is more of the banal drivel that waters the board content down in comparison to a few years ago, my bet would be that Kenzaki would be proud that his creation was still alive and being passed on to future Bulldogs.
As forward thinking as this board normally is, there are times when people just look to criticize everything. Get over yourself.
