I keep seeing people stating “if Oscar returns,” I just can’t envision a scenario to where that’s plausible. He’s likely to be named NPOY and coming off a season where he averaged 17.5/15, I don‘t see how he could top that next season. He needs further development, though he’ll get that in the league.

Sharpe is gone wnd Oscar is gone. The team won’t be that great at all. 7 seed at best and that’s being generous. We will look a lot like his middle of the pack Memphis teams next season.

Cal didn’t take care of this program and now the program needs to toss him out.

There is no “wait until”. We’re done waiting. Time for this guy to go.

Hell never be an NBA Star.

And he will likely pull in more NIL money at UK than his late first pick position would pay him.

He could be another Stanley Jackson, college plays tougher defense in the league as Wall said, everyone are friends at the next level, therefore minimal true competition..

He's not built for the NBA.

Remember the insane numbers Faried put up in college? Where is he these days?

Oscar doesn't have range and he can't dribble. He's not meant for the NBA.

They say that Wagner kid is the real deal, I'll wait til Cal signs him. With that #1 recruit on the court and our chubby genius on the sidelines, I think we just might sneak into the second round of the tourney. Hell, we should raise a banner for that occasion, Indiana-style

He could always come back and try to win a championship with the coach who couldn't do it with scrubs such as John Wall, Demarcus Cousins, Karl Anthony Towns and Devin Booker.

Oscar is very family oriented and wants to make sure his mother gets over to America and is taken care of. That may be the only hope of him coming back. NIL will probably be more guaranteed money than a second round pick, hope to make a roster or go overseas.

I can see it going both ways and will hope for his success no matter what. He is such a great young man and represented us so well.

I'm expecting him to get mid to late 2nd round pick comments from scouts.

And then I'm expecting Cal to push him out the door anyway.

Rinse and repeat.

"This program isn't about you. It's about these kids chasing their dreams."
He would grade out the same next season.
He wont have the luxury of playing beside Cousins like Patterson did.
He will have the exact same role next year.
I just think that Oscar will feel that now is the best time to go.
Im sure he feels hes ready.

Replacing Oscar won’t be easy but they will have a lot to choose from in the transfer market especially from the teams without a coach

granted I haven't looked at draft projections because, well, I really don't give a crap about that stuff any more but he wasn't even listed in the 1st round. If he isn't a guaranteed contract guy why would he go? I mean he can make more NIL money than an undrafted free agent.

He's not going undrafted barring a really bad showing at the combine.
As for why, regardless of draft spot if he makes a team then he's an NBA player.
Achieves a life long dream and is competing at tbe pinacle of his sport.

He'll make more money representing the UK brand in college athletics than he would as a bench player in some no name NBA market.

If providing for his family is a priority for him, another year at UK in the hopes of a title (LOLOLOL) and then overseas is his best bet.

Why can’t he play one more year at UK and then the NBA? The NBA will be around next year. His value won’t change too much unless he develops more of a mid range jumper.

Is Oscar even projected to be drafted ? I know he wasn't projected to be drafted in the 1st round earlier this year or at all.

Please God don’t let wheeler return. Would be fantastic to get Oscar but we might as well kiss him goodbye too when it gets reported he’s getting late first round draft grades.

Agreed. If Sharpe is gone too, that this is on Cal. And it's a horrible miscalculation that ruins next season too.

“If this happens then that is on Cal” - pumpers new go to.

It’s ALL on Calipari. He’s trash. There’s nothing else needed. If sharpe returns which I don’t want him to then Cal will just suck with him. It doesn’t matter. The guy can’t coach and doesn’t change. It’s over.

If I'm an NBA team official, heck yes I'm taking Oscar late first round. You never have to question his motor (sorry, Huggy Bear) or playing with less than 100% effort. Put him in the game if you want some extra second chance shots. Win-win for me.

I can 1000% tell you as of right this minute Oscar and his people are operating as if they are leaving. His plan is to go the the draft regardless of 1st/2nd round. As long as he’s going to be drafted he is leaving.

He needs money badly and the NIL stuff is still not sorted out for him. He has not received $1 yet from NIL. Unless something dramatically changes with NIL he is gone.

He can go to the NBA, but it'll be on his own two feet. I wouldn't draft him. Love the dude to death, but the NBA is a business and Oscar in the NBA is nothing more than a high motor bench player for maybe ~5 years until his athleticism starts to decline.

He needs a handle. He needs a jumper. Without both, he'll never make it.

The NBA is AAU ball now. Markannen came into the league as a 7'0" C, and now he plays SF five years later. Why? Because he can handle the ball, and he has range out to 30ft.

You think Oscar is guarding Durant or Siakam or Randle or Kawhi? Those dudes are all PFs who can handle the rock with the best of them.

Oscar isn't there.

I agree. I don’t think Oscar’s game is built for the NBA. He’s undersized and not super skilled at this point. He’ll make way more here at UK with NIL than he ever would in the NBA.

Faried was in the NBA for like a decade and was effective for the majority of that time.

That's simply untrue. You want Oscar to be here smiling, playing for free, while he hocks chicken fingers or used cars? Lol... you sound ridiculous.
