If I had to pick a team right now, I like the Tigers' chances, mainly because I just don't think Dale can beat them this year. Meanwhile, it's going to be a war just getting to the finals for whoever comes out of the North. Once they get to the finals, I may pick the North team to win it, but after upsetting a team like Ocean Lakes, you've got to like a team like Oscar Smith.

Yes and no to be honest when they face a good team from the north in the state title they better not rely on penalties , I'm pretty sure Laborn had over 200 yards rushing with the other freshman Rb had about 70 yard.

If Oscar Smith this year resembles anything like the teams of their past they should be able to win the battle up front against Thomas Dale and advance to the state championship.

My reasoning is simple statistics. Thomas Dale is not on the level of the other teams that will be in the final four. So right now, due to the fact that they're so much more like to GET TO the finals than anyone else, I make them the favorite. I'm not sure they'll actually be the favorite when there is an actual matchup between two teams.

You gotta like the teams in the North you have Lake Braddock, Westfield, Robinson, and South County who has beaten all these teams this year. All of these teams except maybe Robinson has what it takes to win it all

but we are here Matt. Nobody gave us a snow balls chance in hell to be where we are right now. We corrected some things and we are riding a 3 game run. Our kids believe Matt, they believe the teams in front of us eat like we do, go to school like we do, put their pants on like we do. We are 0-0 right now. While I know you will never give us credit and talk crap about us on social media (yeah we see it), but we are still playing. We will get on that bus Saturday morning and head to Smith or wherever they want to play with one thing on our mind, give it all for the man next to you. .

Defense wins championships. Smith and Dale wouldn't be playing right now unless they had limited their opponents' scoring first. Smith stopped 4 forth down conversions and scored twice afterwards. Dale always has a tough defense too. I expect another close game.

The refs will insert their importance just as they have all year. Sometimes I think the refs get bored or think they are there to effect the outcome of the games. I only hope the better refs are selected for the remaining games!

Of the 4 teams left, these games are typically won by big plays and special teams plays. I have no idea how things have played out in the North Region but all of the close Smith wins have occurred by means of blocked extra points, blocked punts, run backs off onside kicks, shanked punts, etc. Teams that can capture those special moments in the game are rare and this Smith team has been able to do that all year. In the VHSL & Gilliam ratings, I don't think they have a ranking score for special teams but if they did, it would likely be 120 this year!
