I turned it off down 12 with 4:30 left. Figured I’d go spend time with my kid instead watching completely uninspired paid players.

My quick thoughts:
- clearly the defense is terrible. Can’t get a stop especially a big stop to save their lives. No hustle, fire, effort.
- to piggyback on no effort, the defensive rebounding is horrible. It’s all about guts and balls. Our guys seemingly have none. Bad defense and bad defensive rebounding is a bad combo.
- Martini can’t play at this level. Any potential of offense is overshadowed by god awful defense. He can’t be in the rotation.
- JMike should never take another shot for the rest of his career.
-Ace might be a good player some day. At best, currently, he’s an average college player.
-Dylan is great. Wish we had him for 4 years. I’d be comfortable as an NBA GM picking him first overall and letting him quarterback my team for the next decade.

Lastly - Pike clearly sold his soul to do whatever it took to get these guys. It’s like he’s afraid to actually coach them. No accountability, no effort, horrible defense. And Pike seemingly isn’t coaching them. Highly disappointing. Bring back the 3 stars who had a chip on their shoulders and played hard.
If we’re going to go 6-14 in conference, which is likely, I’d rather root for underdogs who play their asses off.

Just another uninspired loss away from the RAC under Pike. What else is new?

Sad, frustrating, disappointing
Team plays with zero urgency!
Davis should never get on the court again, how is it ok he has regressed. No one gets better in this program.
Good thing the freshman are one and done, the longer they stay the more their stock would sink under Pike!

Play Ogbole more mins. Let Somerville play alongside OE as a forward and sub with Grant or Martini.

I would be playing and starting :

manny
Lathan
jwill
Dylan
Ace

Sub acuff, dercack, Hayes, grant, dortch

I would even limit my bench to 2-3 guys as year goes on and players potentially emerge

Problem is Pike is a loyalist and definition of insanity. Too nice of a guy to sit people or even stick up for them versus bad refs. It’s very telling and his downfall

Can’t say it enough this team is poorly constructed. We all are not D1 coaches, yet virtually all of us Rivals members clearly saw during the spring/summer that Pike needed to bring in a veteran 5 or 4 who was big bodied, could be viable defender in the paint, and could rebound. To his discredit Pike failed to do so. He also must DEMAND better play from his players and rip them new assh*les on the sideline when their play is soft or stupid.

Its criminal that Pike didn't get a legit center to pair up with the 2 best players he will ever coach in his career again. Don't say he didn't have the NIL. That is his job to make sure he secures the NIL needed for such an important position on a team that had hopes of makes a deep NCAA run. Now it's looking like NIT.

We have no center, PF, or SG
OG can play more center mins as he steadily improves and play Latham at PF with sub mins from Martini and Grant.

SG can be can Ace/Williams/Dercack/Acuff

Then flip Dylan to SG with Williams/Dercack

Although Ace threw up some ill advised shots he did get more rebounds. RU defense in the paint looks like the biggest problem at the moment. Pike has to find a solution.

Why did he chase away Woolfolk? Clearly he could have done a better job defending than Martini. I mean that fact that Pike actually targeted Martini as a portal pick up is astonishing.

Pike is lost right now. It’s his recruiting failures of his past that are biting him the hardest. Dylan and Ace should have coming onto a team of lunch pale guys that have been here for 2-3 years instead of a mish mash of low major pick ups.

Dude, how much did you contribute to RU NIL to allow Pikiell to do that?

How about the coach who makes millions gets the money he needs from the big donors. Its not coming from the fans on this site. He needed to sell the vision of a deep NCAA run with 2 top NBA picks to some big swinging dick donors and he obviously failed miserably. Thats his job!

You will get your wish next season when Rutgers will be ranked at the bottom of the B1G Ten because of the lack if offensive talent..

Sure, it's always somebody else's fault. You talk big about other peoples's money. Why don't you actually step up and make a positive contribution versus whining.

He needed a center, but the bigger miss was not getting a mature 4ish guy that can actually defend and rebound.

I hate to agree with your points, but you are spot on. We may end up with a worse record than last season if nothing changes on the court.

The NIL money to Harper and Bailey didn't even come from RU.

When we press and they get over mid-court, why do we immediately sag back to the top of the key and put no pressure on the guards
