if they can get to the postseason. I also think it means the Braves need to pull the trigger on the likes of Josh Willingham.

Leave it to Skip Bayless to claim that this trade makes the Phils "the best team in all of baseball". I keep one of his wild opinions to line up with one of mine, but every time he opens his mouth, I think I just hate him more.

As a Braves fan, we only have two more series with the Phils this year, but one of them is the last weekend of the year. If it's close then, that three-game set will be EPIC.

I just want to see him dominate. Would have loved if he had stayed with Houston for his career but that wasn't going to happen. Oh what could have been if they would have won the title.

All I know now is that a friend from back home who graduated with Roy is going to be a wreck. She hates the Phillies like catvet hates Jackson.

AA - doesn't care, only wants Roy to succeed

will teach you that Drayton McClane is a moron. He could've traded him to STL and probably gotten a better deal, but his arrogance got in the way. I still think they got an OK haul in prospects... but I can't figure out why they agreed to pay all that money. JA Happ isn't a bad pitcher at all.

As much as I would have loved to see Roy Oswalt with the Birds on the bats on his chest, I will admit that I had some apprehension about trading Shelby Miller for him. It could have been Doyle Alexander for John Smoltz II.

Especially now that it looks like Miller is starting to pitch really well for Quad Cities, and it's not like the Cardinals farm system is loaded with prospects right now.

As a Cardinals fan, I would have hated losing the top prospect in the minors in Shelby Miller, who I think was the key guy for the Cardinals in the potential deal, and I had also heard that there were two young guys on the MLB roster that may have been included- one name I had heard was Stavinoha- wouldn't really care if he left to be honest with you, but the other name I had heard was Jason Motte, and I would have not liked that at all. Especially with Ryan Franklin's ERA over 3 and the fact that he will be 38 next year.

The thought of trotting out Carp, Waino, Oswalt, and Garcia in the playoffs (if we get there) made me really happy. And we'd be able to do it again next year, assuming everyone is healthy. That's a pretty damn good front 4.

Another angle to look at it from, is that Pujols has been adamant that for him to stay in STL, he's going to need to see a committment from the Cardinals to win and to win NOW. Getting a guy like Oswalt would definitely help Pujols' concerns about the Cardinals taking a few years off and saving some cash.

offered in one of the variations of the trade... and I would've been COMPLETELY ok with giving his *** up. He played gold glove caliber D last year and hit ok... This year, he's done neither.

Stavinoha is from Houston as well... I bet he would've enjoyed coming home.

Anyways, he's gone to Philly now... We've got to get our *** in gear and pick up another arm (read: Jake Westbrook).

getting those 2 wins. He's definitely pitched well enough to have several more wins this year.
