BTW, you were right about The Athletic. I hit the cancel button on my dashboard because my subscription was up in a few days. They gave me a loyalty discount of $9.99 for the entire year, which was cheaper than the $1/month I paid in year one. I ran it by the household CFO to see if we could afford such a large sum of money, and it was begrudgingly approved when I noted this would cost us 2.7 cents per day.
If only Sirius/XM haggling was this simple. It usually takes several rounds to get their subscription down to under $5/month. Wonder how many people pay full prices for The Athletic and Sirius/XM. Thanks for the tip. If I can keep going with this, we may be billionaires in about 100 years.
Saw recently ESPN+ is changing its model to limit cancellations to 30 days after renewal (if you are on the annual plan) - so no partial refunds on mid year cancellations.
