Apparently the contract these guys signed with LIV calls for a 2 to 4 time penalty for resigning their LIV membership. Koepka would owe $400,000,000.

Wow.
But the contract is only for 3 years. They can just play it out. Plus the tour is not taking them back anytime soon.

Nope. It will take a lot more than that. Maybe the champions tour will take them w/o question.
If you don’t think they wouldn’t take Cam and the South Americans back, you are nuts. There may be bad blood because of the media but not among most of the players. I agree the older LIV guys have no shot.

The LIV players are suing the PGA Tour which is the Tour players and the money to defend the tour is coming from them. The Tour players aren't going to hold hands and sing kumbaya. Mcilroy and Reed a couple weeks ago weren't exchanging Valentines cards.

Never said they wouldn’t take them back but they will make them jump through hoops. Maybe minimum events on Korn Ferry and PGA Euro tour to earn status back on the tour.

Can't change the rules for Major Winners or you have another law suit but for those who don't have that, make it like everyone else.....quailfy thru Korn Ferry.

Speaking of that, Chris Gotterup is currently #54 in the Korn Ferry Tour Points Standings. I believe he has to finish #30 or better to get a '23-'24 Tour card.

You lost me at mentioning McIlroy and Reed. Guys on the LIV don't even like Reed. Obviously you missed the comments from Speith about DJ and other PGA pros about Cam. These guys are friends off the course and the PGA guys know they got more because of LIV.

You implied the Senior tour would which only makes sense for the older guys. The young guys have value and of course would need to earn their way back. Most would have to qualify. I have no issues with that.

Yes, senior tour will welcome them with no additional requirements. The PGA Tour will be a different story. There will be a path back but not easy and may have to have a slice of humble pie.

Cam Smith and DJ can walk on any tour any time they want. Let's keep the stupid out of the thread. Thanks!

I think they absolutely would take some back but they'd make them clear a couple of really easy hurdles to get reinstated.

I don't think it's all the LIV players. In fact, if I recall, some of the prominent names behind the first lawsuit actually dropped out. Reed is still in it and has that wackjob attorney personally suing Golf Channel and others for defamation, but Reed is an *** and everyone agrees (LOL, even the LIV guys).

Honestly, I think the whole thing is silly. Would DJ turn his back on the supposed $125 million?

The contract states LIV has exclusive, perpetual, royalty-free, worldwide” rights to “exhibit, exploit, copy, reproduce and otherwise use” their image." Sounds like a huge stumbling block.

Iirc this is something Phil was fighting about with the PGA Tour.

Not now they can't. To play on the PGA Tour you have to be a member. They aren't.
They can have their membership reinstated in a 5-min phone call. Let's all stop being stupid.

1. They are two elite golfers in talent and name
2. Going back to the PGA from LIV would be a huge PR win for the PGA

Not saying any of this will happen, but doors are always open for the best.

You think the Tour is going to reinstate a player who they can't promote? The contract with LIV says they (LIV) own "exclusive" rights to his image. Does that include participating in a Tour owned tourney? Are you suggesting he's gong to play on Tour but they can't show him playing? Why would they allow that.

Mickelson was always full of ****. He chased the cash. All that talk about his freedom and use of his media rights, etc was BS. For all his whining about how the PGA controlled him and his media content, he ended up on a tour that is even more restrictive than the PGA.

They'd take them back but I would guess that the PGA would make them pay "penance". It would be more symbolic than penal.

Would it even get to this though? If a player broke the LIV contract its either because he paid the exit fee (which appears to be ridiculous) or that the player somehow got a court to break the contract for him.

Or, LIV folded............. and then the contracts wouldn't matter.

Why would that be any different than 95% of the PGA Tour players today? TV only shows a handful at best.

He needed the money. Now he has to live with it.

Is anyone watching LIV from Orlando today? Extremely small crowd during the height of the FL tourist season.

Brooks Koepka up one with one hole to play.

LIV golf looks more cheesy and small time with each tournament played.

I wonder how LIV players are being treated back at home. In the Jax/Ponte Vedra community there is a ton of support for the PGA Tour because its headquarters is here. After being banned over at Sawgrass Can was playing at my club and tried to join. Rejected. He’s being turned down all over. At one level I feel bad for the guy but on another hand many of these clubs benefit handsomely due to the tour.

I watched a little but hated the announcers. Pushing team concept way too hard. Said the crowd was wild. Sounds like they are trying to force excitement. Graphics on side are too small and cluttered. Second time I watched. Trying to give it a chance. Heard the music this time which seemed pointless.

Don’t feel bad for him. He signed for over 100mm.

Masters week! I love Scheffler at Augusta. Best on tour tee to green. Short game is near Spieth level clipping it off the short stuff. Putts good enough. He's made for Augusta and think he'll win at least a few Masters. Many other contenders...is it Thursday yet?

Buddy went to LIV on Saturday. His thoughts were that they are definitely trying something new. The entire atmosphere is different than a PGA event (he's gone to TPC a few times) as we already knew. Said they seem to restrict fans from certain areas (and workers herd them to certain areas) to make sure they all congregate in one area to make it look like the crowds are more dense than they are really are.

He was surprised by the course. Looked like a resort course you and your buddies could play any time they wanted. Rough wasn't tough, some areas were almost muni track like with barren areas, crab grass, etc. He was told by some old dude he was talking to that the players apparently don't like many of the courses they are playing on but can't say anything negative about LIV and that includes the course conditions.
