I started a thread in the Lounge (which is now under siege) asking for everyone's 5 favorite movies. I wanted to mix it up and ask what are your 3 favorite sports movies. For me, it's:

1. Hoosiers
2. The Natural
3. Slapshot

I would throw in honorable mentions of Bull Durham (the only movie Costner did that he didn't ruin) and Happy Gilmore (though I don't really consider golf a sport). I also enjoyed Miracle a great deal.

Even though it is not a sport, I always liked Searching for Bobby Fischer too. I think it gives insight as to what athletes might go through at young ages.

Can't argue with Hoosiers; I try to watch it at least once a year.

1. Hoosiers
2. Remember the Titans
3. McFarland, USA

HM: Hoop Dreams and Rudy.

1. Chariots of Fire
2. Pride of the Yankees

Here's a new wrinkle - favorite 3 guilty pleasure sports movies:

1. Rollerball (James Caan but enjoyed the remake as well)
2. Death Race 2000 (David Carradine and Sylvester Stallone Version)
3. Rocky III (How can you not love the match with Thunderlips - Hulk Hogan)

3. Major League/League of Their Own (tie).

Damn, Sandlot was a good choice. I love that movie.

There is a great documentary that HBO called 9 Innings from Ground Zero that's pretty great. Not a movie but a nice show.

Rocky, Karate Kid, Chariots of Fire... Raging Bull.

I hate Rudy. He's a stalker who abandoned his family to pursue a narcissistic dream.

Underrated: For the Love of the Game, Rocky 2, Rocky Balboa.

And you know... I love the original Rocky... but he totally date-raped Adrienne.

Wow....only three? That's hard.

Field of Dreams is definitely on the list. The purity of baseball....I love it. I turned 39 last month and I'm still playing (trying). Twice now I've tried retiring and keep coming back.

Caddyshack is probably there for me too. It's on my list to go to movies when I need a pickup. It's timeless.

Also love Hoosiers.

It's interesting... the best sports movies have so much more to them than just sports. That's the case with actual sporting events, too. Think about how Duke's goal of repeating as champ and UK's redemption featuring a bunch of scrappy, loyal players add to the '92 Elite 8 classic. The game itself was amazing in its own right, but that story behind it...

Almost impossible to give just three for me or rank them.

1. Chariots of Fire - top ten film for me, all-time, so ...
2. Field of Dreams - just an all-time great.
3. Brian's Song - going old school here. First sports film I ever saw and I cried during it.

Lots of others are right there though - several mentioned above.

I don't consider Caddyshack a "sports" movie so it doesn't make my list. My 3 would be in no particular order:

The Natural
Major League
Rudy

HM: Hoosiers, Ragin Bull

Of the others named, I think Remember The Titans is one of the most overrated movies of all time (I'd rather watch The Program or Friday Night Lights and both of those movies sucked). Blue Chips was dreadful as was White Men Can't Jump (that movie could have been 90 minutes shorter). Sandlot is great, Slapshot is great, Bad News Bears is great (the original, of course). Rocky 1, 2 and 3 were great and 4 wasn't bad. That fifth one was an abomination. Field of Dreams was boring, The Karate Kid isn't a sports movie to me and I didn't like Bull Durham nearly as much as everyone else seemed to.

You know this site has a poll function, right?

This thread is not a poll where you pick your favorite. It is an opinion thread. Even gsd one of your own figured that out. Now do you have 3 favorite sports movies? If so list them. Otherwise get it together before you try to flame us. You just look lost. I'm trying to be civil. OFC

B. The Way of the Dragon, Blades of Glory, and American Anthem
C. Hoosiers, A League of Their Own, and Air Bud
D. North Dallas Forty, Major League, and Cars
E. Dodgeball, He Got Game, Jet Li's Fearless
