OT: Amazon Prime video

We watch a fair amount of the Amazon prime app...lots of shows we like. However, I’ve noticed it learns the shows we like and for some of them, it begins to charge us to buy the show. One show, which had three seasons, we were were almost done with the final season the. We are charged for the three remaining episodes. We didn’t pay for it of course

Any idea why this is?

BTW: whoever recommended “Loudermilk”...Kudos! Love it

also noticed Magnum PI now charges when it not used to cost anything

Sometimes shows go on and off. I just checked Most Dangerous ways to School and it's charging me for episode one.

Weird, I thought if you had Prime anything in their catalog was included. Maybe that's the catch. They don't add the juicy final episodes on purpose. Scumbag move. Thanks for the heads up tho.

Amazon now partners with a bunch of other content holders like IMDB videos. These partners can charge for their content accessible on prime.

Guessing that's just bad luck that a show went off prime while you were in the middle of it. But I had noticed it's not uncommon for shows to have a season or two on prime and then charge for newer ones. I assume that the rights holders are getting some money for the first season or two and hoping that lures people in to pay for the subsequent seasons. May also be that the original station airing the shows maintains the exclusive rights for a few years after a season originally airs.

Movies oddly seem to be the opposite, with the sequels more likely to be free and the original more likely to require rent. Not sure if that's because Amazon spends its money on newer movies or if it's becuase the sequels tend to be worse so they tend to be cheaper to get rights to, even though they are newer.

I have never watched either of those and Amazon wants me to buy both.
Neither is available for free thru Prime for me.

Shows and movies are added to prime and removed from prime all the time. I am guessing your show was removed and you just happened to be close to the end of it.
