In 1975 the SF Giants opening day roster had a 3M outfield: all three had last name beginning w/letter M.....Two of three had same initials....Can you name the three, and what was unique about the two w/same initials??

I can tell you who it wasn't. It wasn't Willie Mays or Willie McCovey. Mays last year with the Giants was 1972 and McCovey was with the Padres in 1975. This is a real head scratcher hart. OFC

I didn't know, so I went searching. I'm disqualified. But it looks like there are actually 3... unless one of those games included stats that weren't technically official. But all 3 show up on the game logs on the goduke.statsgeek.com website. So I'm thinking all 3 probably are official.

Heyman was unofficial. The ACC decided to keep assist stats in the 1963 ACC Tournament. I think Bill Brill may have been the impetus but I could be wrong. Heyman had a triple-double against Virginia in the ACC T. But the ACC didn't start officially keeping track of assists, steals and blocked shots until the mid-70s.

Duke started keeping assists stats in 1969 but much later on steals and blocks.

So, it gets complicated.

But I've always considered Heyman's triple-double as an unofficial one.

I've sort of given a hint. Can't be any earlier than mid-70s to meet my somewhat arbitrary distinction.

And Spanarkel is a good but inaccurate guess.

I'll give another hint.

One was points, rebounds and assists.

One was points, rebounds and blocks.

I figured I gave enough hints for Shelden.

Not that many folks can hit double figures in blocks.

He had 19 points, 11 rebounds and 10 blocks against Maryland in 2006, his senior season.

The points-rebounds-assists guy is still out there. Not Dawkins, not Ferry.

I was at that game. J.J. dunked in that game too.

Good guess Sky and more than likely on the money...I am going out on a limb w/a player who could play inside and shoot from outside well, perhaps even turned in a do it all performance one game... Mark Crow

This is one that may not get answered. I have mentioned him here before . Now the guys on here that go to all the Duke home football games may come up with it if the listen to the P.A. announcer right before the game starts. Who is the official clock operator at all Duke home football games. I will give a hint for every incorrect answer starting with today's. Be observant. If it looks as though no one is going to get it in a reasonable time I will give an easier question. ( M ) OFC

So, I'll never get one of these questions right, but I do have a couple of good Yankee triviaquestions for Sky, haha.

That is absolutely amazing. I didn't think anyone would get it. You know Mark?:D LOL I just wanted to have a little fun with you guys. Yes Mark Robertson is our football clock operator and is everything I said about him. One of the nicest people I have ever known and I just wanted him to get a little recognition plus a good way to get my post count up. You are up sgrooms. OFC.

Hill, Irving, Laettner, Brand, Battier, Okafor, Heyman are my 7 guesses. Extra four that I'm less sure of: Hood, Ferry, Gminski, Mullins

Cases are dismissed in Kentucky once the defendants adamantly swear that they hate Christian Laettner. You can't be such a rotten person after all if you have a passionate hatred towards what is universally accepted as evil.
