The Duke football team opens play Saturday nite Sept 3rd at home vs NCCU. Last year the Devils opened on the road at Tulane on a Thursday evening.Prior to 2015, when was the last time Duke opened OTHER than on a Saturday???

Story about Troy Slade. It was during the off football season maybe early spring. A bunch of us would get together on Sundays and play some tackle football no pads. Yes it was really stupid but nobody ever hit really hard. We would play on what was then one of Elon College's practice field. Well we were playing and up drives Troy with his brother who I had worked with and they want to play. Troy was so much faster and bigger than the rest of us and nobody could touch him until on one play he was going down the sideline and one of the guys got a lucky hit on him that was actually pretty hard because of the angle. Troy went down pretty hard but was not hurt. Troy left. OFC
