Here's a hint, the player retired before Cobb. The record has been held for a very long time.

It's a tough question, so I'll give it an hour or so and then give the answer.

Haha, the answer is Sam Crawford. He retired in 1917 (about the time Hart and Sky finished high school :)). He retired with 309 triples. Ty Cobb was second with 297, so Sky is up because he had the second place guy.

In 1985 John Fogerty had a hit song named "Centerfield". In the song there is a reference made to a disgraced player, a great players nickname and 2 players by their names. Name the disgraced player, the player called by his nickname and the two players by the real names. OFC

Ok let's wind it down. The player who was disgraced was Joe Jackson who played left field for the most part and hart got that one. Mighty Casey doesn't factor in because he is fictional. Joe DiMaggio was one as answered by DukefanKY. The other 2 played center field just like DiMaggio did. If not answered tonight I will give the final hint in the morning.OFC
