The instructions never say how much pressure to use ... is it a light swipe, moderate pressure, or what? I know they work really well, but don't want to screw up the finish by pressing too hard.
OT: Anybody ever used a clay bar on their car?

I don't think you can press too hard as long as the bar is clean. I have used them and rubbed pretty hard without any damage.
Don't worry about pressing too hard. You will get a feel for it once you start. I used one on my Corvette, and the paint was smooth when I finished. Make sure you wash the car first with a strong solution of Dawn and water to help strip the wax. The clay bar will then remove the impurities on the paint surface.
Thanks to both of you. So you have a Corvette? I have an '09 ... love it. Bought it last fall and it had only 12,000 miles. Had an '03 but a gal pulled out in front of me when I was about 40 feet away going around 50. I T-boned her, in an SUV, at probably around 45. Cop said I had about 10 feet of tire marks. I liked the '03 also but it was totaled.
Yeah, I couldn't imagine not washing the residue off afterward.
Every used Zaino wax (or polish)? Expensive, but great stuff and easy to use. And no white residue if you get it in the wrong place.

try turtle wax ice. You can use it on plastic, paint, and even chrome. It's clear synthetic wax that has the viscosity of mineral oil. I have to put aside a day to wash, bar, and wax the Armada, but its done better than the fly by night detail places.

I've been every year but one. Won't be entering a car this year but may drive a friends 68 Camaro if he drives in his dads 69. Looking a lot like rain though. I've just found me a project that I'm going to work on with the goal of entering the Hot Rod Magazine power tour in two years. That can't be anything but a blast.

I wanted a GMC Syclone, GMC Typhoon, or Buick Grand National. Something that doesn't scream sports car to the current generation but can very easily whip *** at the track. I wanted something a little more modern than obvious classics that I wouldn't mind driving to work a few days a week in the summer.
all of those were outrageously priced or I would have had to fly halfway across the country to get a decent priced one that I may not be able to even be able to drive home.
As luck may have it I was given a shot at a 88 Monte Carlo SS for peanuts. I'm going to strip out the junk running gear and suspension and build something close to this that I found on google while searching for ideas:
I'm going to stick with the Turbo V6 theme as to make it an Incognito hot rod. I'm going to use
the GMC Syclone Turbo V6 blueprint for about a 450 to 475 horse engine that will drop right into
the monte with little work. Then transmissions and rear axle upgrade choices are numerous from there.

That's very sharp. I like it a lot! It's a good choice of a unique project. It's cool that it will be incognito unless somebody knows what to look for. It's a smart choice, too, since high performance Chevy parts won't be hard to come by. I wouldn't be surprised if you could substitute some aftermarket Corvette parts for the transmission, suspension, axle, rotors, and other brake upgrades. I know a couple of people who have had to do frame-offs for projects. I doubt you would have to get into anything like that, since that frame should be just fine. And who doesn't like that kind of HP? Very good choice, sir.
