My dad just retired and decided to sell some of the stuff he has horded over the years. He has random guitars he bought mostly from estate sells or from just people who he worked with over the years. He wants me to sell them. Where is the best place around Jackson to sell them?

I wouldn't rush to sell them all at one time. Depending on what he has, they could be worth a boatload of loot. I would suggest finding out exactly what he has and doing some research. Any idea what all he has?

I'd be interested in seeing a list too. If you had time to put one together that would be great.

Honestly, I could not recommend anywhere in Jackson as I have dealt with every local store around. There are a couple of stores worth dealing with on a purchase but not for selling equipment. You would probably do best on ebay. I could be interested depending on what you are looking to sell. I've been collecting for several years.

Guitar list

It is just a few guitars he randomly picked up. 1945 Gibson acoustic, 1914 George Washburn, an old Stella, VOX bass guitar from the 60s, Epiphone electric acoustic newer and some guitar I don't know what it is but it is old. Also Epiphone acoustic and Ovation 1970s electric.

The 45 Gibson good be very, very interesting for sure

also, if the Epiphone is an old "Texan" it could be worth money. The Texan (from the 60's) was made famous by Paul McCartney. They are all interesting really.

I have a friend that owns a guitar shop on the west coast. He said that vintage stuff could be quite valuable. He suggested: "His best resource is to consign them with Kim Sherman at Cotten Guitars in Nashville or Gruhn guitars in Nashville."

^^^^ This is the best advice ^^^^ If you don't personally have a gut feeling what they're worth, then you're better off paying a fee and letting someone else sell them. I've played for years so I could reasonably price vintage gear doing some quick research because I've bought and sold lots of gear. Flip side, I don't collect comic books. Could I price some old comics based on what I found on the net? Sure. Would I have a clue if I priced/sold them for true value? No.

Yep, Patrick @ Fondren Guitars would be the only real local option. Square dealer.

YMMV

. According to the Vintage Guitars blog (link below), your instrument would go for $4500 to $7500,
