Needing a new set of tires for a Mercedes 350 SUV.
Came with Cooper tires on the vehicle and now needing new ones after only 31,0000 miles so do not what to go back to those but also not interested in paying
$16-$1,800 for Michelin’s
Anyone have recommendations ?
Any have experience with Continental tires ?

What size? You may find specific tire sizes are only made by certain manufacturers. I’d not be shocked that this is the case with a Benz.

We have Goodyear assurances on our Grand Cherokee. 30k, and still plenty of tread. No issues.

Nexen Roadian GTX, I've been buying them for well over a decade. They were cheap (price wise) when they were first introduced for marketing purposes but aren't anymore. I've gotten excellent service out of them.

go with a"touring" tire......which is not a low profile tire. The sidewall will be taller and you will get a better ride. Hankook makes a good one.

I have Yokohama’s on both my wife’s midsize SUV and my old shitbox Toyota truck. No complaints, but it may not be what you’re looking for.

My folks bought a new Mercedes SUV and it felt like it needed new tires almost immediately.
I don’t know how many miles were on them, Dad does a good bit of driving, but it seemed super soon to me.
They had never been Mercedes people, but when my aunt passed they bought her SUV. When it was time to replace that one of course Mom didn’t want anything else.

Take a look at the Hercules Terra Trac series. They are built for SUVs & light trucks and range from road treads to mud tires. I put the X-Venture model on a 2-door Wrangler and have been happy with the performance so far. Great on the road & I haven’t gotten it stuck yet. Not a bad all terrain tire. Over 30K miles so far with almost no sign of wear.

It's been my experience from extensive driving of a BMW, a Mercedes, and a Porsche, the last thing you want to do is get anything less than the best high performance tire.

Pay the Michelin Man.

Now if all you're doing is driving on bumphuck county roads and in the city of Jackson, your tires don't matter a bit and you may as well purchase a used Ford Escape.

I have used Discount Tire in North MS for all my tires over the past few years and always get a good price and great service. Their website will help with tire options for your vehicle. It looks like you should be able to get $250 a tire on the lower side. You get their card and its 9 months same as cash.

I put Michelin's Cross Climates on my Bugatti. They hug the road and provide a smooth, quiet ride. Safety first although your mileage will drop a bit. I also need to take in my Bugatti because they misspelled the name. It has the letters h o n d a c r v on it.

I’ve learned that as far as replacing original tires on vehicles that I’m better off buying whatever my local tire shop recommends. He’s recommending whatever he’s getting the best service out of and therefore he’ll service them when I need him too.

I have had Continental on multiple vehicles never and problem. One thing I did in the past, if you have local big name auto dealer, they sometimes do aftermarket stuff to their trucks before selling new ones, when I lives in MO I got Goodyear/Michillen tires they took off their new tricks to put on bigger/lifts basically brand new tires with minimal miles for a fraction of normal price. May want to look into it

Both our cars have Continential (replaced OEM Michelin's which died at 30K) only have 3-4K on them but seem to be holding well. Only negative so far is that they seem to need air more frequently that other tires I've own ( 2-4 pounds a month or so).

That vehicle came with 3 or 4 different size wheels. Which size was on it?

It is a 5000 lb vehicle unloaded.

The factory tires are performance, which never last over 35k.

For top tier that ride good and last:
Michelin Defenders.
For better ride and decent mileage:
Bridgestone Alenza.
For inexpensive ok ride.
Kelly Edge A/S.

I put tons of miles per week on my truck and I’ve found Toyo tires to hold up great. They are not as supple as Yokohama’s so they last longer on the highway. Ask a tire dealer that sells multiple brands

How can a tire be 160% better than another tire? Is the #1 tire brand value really worth that? No, its not.

What do you think the profit margin is on new tires? Up to 50%

If you have a Mercedes, I'd think you'd want the best tires you could get. That's Michelin.

I buy "used" tires. When people buy their brand new trucks and immediately swap out tires and rims, or when people wreck the new tires, you can buy those tires for a fraction of new cost. I bought a set of 4 Cooper all-terrain tires that looked brand new for less than $300 total mounted and balanced.

Treadlife is one consideration. Handling/stopping in wet or icy conditions is another. A top of the line Michelin Cross Climate vs a cheap Chinese tire on a winding road in a rainstorm might be the difference in your loved one getting home safe vs wrapping their vehicle around a telephone pole. Tires are the only part of the vehicle touching the road, get the best you can afford and take care of them.
